The most natural and accurate amplification for your resophonic guitar
Let me first introduce myself. I've played Pedal Steel and Dobro for many years (50+ years); professionally, a-vocationally, in the recording studio and just for simple pleasure. The search for an acceptable sound for my 'reso' guitar(s) has been a constant part of the journey...until now.I have the Fishman JD system (installed in the black guitar). I like it and even recommend it especially in loud and difficult outdoor venues. But the sound, unless blended with a microphone (SM 57, etc.), is not even close to pure acoustic sound. The Myers Grip is the simplest and closest I've ever heard outside of a recording studio as captured by high quality mics (those that the Fishman JD preamp attempts to emulate by modeling). The quality and accuracy of sound, complete with the subtle nuances found within your touch and technique, are captured superbly. This is my second purchase; primarily for the security of keeping a back-up handy in the case of emergency. One of the bonuses of going with the Myers system (choice of attachment system being your only real decision to make) is you only have to have one (not one for each of your guitars, mandolins, etc.). I chose the Grip with the suction cup. PRO TIP: Don't forget to use a tiny bit of moistening for secure attachment. Yes, saliva works, LOL. Silly and obvious as it sounds, I'm guessing that reviewers that have complained about instability of mount only tried using the suction cup dry. Come on...get real. LOL. Although, in the interest of health concerns, I imagine the CDC recommends you not share your Myers device. One last thing, customer support is above and beyond excellent. I had a recent issue (my on stupidity).I contacted support by email. I received a phone call (and emails) from Gregg Myers, CEO and founder. How amazing is that!? With out a lot of unnecessary words, my problem was resolved almost overnight.Friends, for me the search for pristine sound reinforcement of the finicky resonator guitar (and mandolin) is over.

Great, clear, accurate, noiseless sound. Suction cup mounting is not reliable for my guitar.
Got this Myers microphonic pick-up for my Duolian. Sounds very real - clear signal, no noise. The suction cup attachment option does not work well on my metal-bodied guitar. The weight of the cord seems to pull it off. So, I'm going with the supplied two-sided tape method. This is disappointing, as I had planned on using this pick-up on more than one guitar. Hence, four stars.

Best solution to amplifying a resonator guitar out of 5 things I tried
I tried Knise (?) and KMA stick-on piezo pickups, miking with a SM57 and a Beyerdynamic mini mic that required phantom power. The Myers won against those 4 approaches. It had better native EQ and volume than the piezos, and unlike the other 2 mics I could use it with my acoustic amplifiers because it didn't need phantom power .... so I have a stage volume that's under my control and I'm not 100% dependent on a sound guy. The best setup for me was gaffe taping it to my resonator, sticking the gooseneck mic down into the holes near the fretboard and running a 1/4" out to a Behringer direct box that has a bunch of EQ / shaping knobs, then XLR to the amp. You do need a XLR in on your amp. You can use a 1/4-XLR cable, not a DI box, but you can't go 1/4-1/4. The product isn't designed to work that way and there's almost zero gain. But with the Behringer DI I had significantly more volume than any of the other approaches (except maybe the SM57 to PA) that I tried and the gooseneck placed in different cavities produces a fair amount of natural EQ differentiation. It will feed back if you crank it up but not until you've gotten more volume than anything else I've tried. Worked great with my banjo too

Sounds Great, but
The media could not be loaded. Sounds great, but has major feedback issues when playing through a PA speaker. Sounds and works great when just using headphones. I use it with a looper pedal.

Great product; fantastic personal customer service
I heeded a pickup for my steel-bodied resonator guitar. I tried a few things but didn't get the outcome I was hoping for. Then I found Gregg Myers Pickups. The unit has a non-abrasive suction cup that allows you to position it where you need it on the guitar top. The pickup is a mini-microphone with a flexible stem which enables you to place it inside the sound hole(s) and position it when you find the sweet spot you're looking for. Another big plus... it has it's own volume pot.I installed it on my guitar but I wasn't getting the gain I needed. I emailed Gregg Myers Pickups to explain my situation. Gregg Myers himself phoned me back and asked what amp I was using. I have an old Trace Elliot acoustic amp that I use for all my acoustic instruments. They don't make them anymore but Gregg managed to find the specs on the amp and suggested I use an impedance transformer to get my signal up to line level to match the old Trace. He said he would ship one out right away... no charge! Wow! I received it the next day along with an adapter. That was exactly what I needed. I had a band rehearsal this afternoon and the pickup worked great. My guitar was actually too loud. Had to turn the volume pot down and we were good to go. Perfect. This was a great addition to my arsenal and saved the day.Gregg Meyers Pickups. They make high quality products and the personal customer service I received from the owner is over-the-top great!Highly recommended.

but I really wasn't satisfied with them
I bought this mic for my dobro.. I've tried others that were more expensive that were ok, but I really wasn't satisfied with them. This little mic is the real deal. I'm extremely pleased with how it performs...plenty of volume with no feedback problems, no distortion, easy to install and use. I ordered another one for my banjo. I have a bluegrass band and the other band members can't believe how much better this mic is than the others I've used. Customer service is second to none... If you're looking for a top quality instrument mic, give this one a try. You won't be disappointed....

Really effective natural sound
This pickup is great - you can position it however you like, it's like putting a mic inside your resonator (how I set it up). It will feedback quite easily if there's too much gain on the amp or if the amp is set-up facing you to monitor, so it takes a little getting used to on setup, but overall it's better than a trad microphone and more natural sound than a piezo pickup.
