2017 three CD set. One of RPM Records defining releases remains the Dream Babes series, the Brit Girl Sound collections which started in 1994 and ran until 2007 reaching volume 8. The scene for collecting such sounds has only grown bigger and more international since then. Now it is time for RPM's concluding word on the subject of it's own series with this set. 80 tracks, none duplicated from the DB series, many tracks fresh to CD, five tracks previously unreleased. Compiled with much learned, many archive tapes unearthed, and recordings dug from crates since the series last volume. Spanning the full spectrum of the scene, known for it's gratifying diversity, the box set offers slick originals and intriguing covers, from early girls to late girls, beat girls, folk girls, hippy girls and mod girls. Here, you'll also find the brash teeners, the raw belters, the wistful balladeers, the brassy pub singers, the breathy harmonizers and the bluesy shouters. There are Essex girls, lasses from Lancashire, Glasgwegians and hey there Geordie girls, Chelsea debs and daughters of Cardiff and Coventry, Stoke and Southend. The Commonwealth gets a nod too, with Kiwi gals and Caribbean queens. Not forgetting Schoolgirls and secretaries, convent girls and actresses, daughters of diplomats, god-daughters of royalty and stars before they were stars.

Too much good stuff
Three CDs of unknown British girl singers from the 60s. How can you not love this? The songs are all very 60s yet lovely and lively and sweet and powerful. Hooray for these ladies!

Great set for those that love female British artists
Lots of obscure tracks by British female artists most have never heard of. Of course you do get tracks by more well know artists like Petula Clark, Kiki Dee, Lulu, Dusty Springfield and others. This 3 CD set is definitely worthwhile if you enjoy finding and listening to more obscure material from the 1960's. I love most of these British female sets and this is no exception. The box set also comes with a well done booklet describing how and why the set was put together and a picture of the artist and paragraph about her for each track in the set. I found it worthwhile.

The BEST 60s Beat & Northern Soul Set Ever and It's All Girls!
The BEST ever set of Beat, Northern Soul and Pop music from the UK ever. And it's all Girls! The Guys are prominent on other sets with five tracks or more to one female artist. Now the Girls are back with a wonderful vengeance. You'll be grateful. I am. There is no MOR filler or dodgy songs. The song order on each CD was carefully planned because there is no jarring feeling as each song follows the next beautifully. This is top-drawer from the attractive packaging with only one minus: the booklet has tiny font. Get out your magnifying glass. It is a small thing for a set that has Dusty, Lulu, Cilla, Kiki Dee, Elkie Brooks, Marianne Faithfull, Helen Shapiro and Kathy Kirby represented with non-hits. Want the Hits? Go elsewhere. These top-drawer acts are joined by the likes of Beryl Marsden, Billie Davis, Antoinette (NOT the Rap singer) Lorraine Child, Barry St. John, Nola York, Julie Grant Maureen Evans and more on 80 Fantastic tracks. The Beat Sound and Northern Soul came into play with the wave of new music starting with The Beatles in 1963. The female singer and bands exchanged their frilly dresses and frills for a Mod look. They also brought a new sound. This is not limited to any age group. You need not have been there to love this music. Any fan of 60s music or a fan of good music will love this. You'll start moving along and singing along to tune after tune. There will be those favorites you'll wail in disbelief that it wasn't a Hit. I sure did. How did Antoinette's "Jenny Let Him Go" miss the UK charts? I don't do reviews often but I had to for this set but when I saw the package, it's appealing and the sound quality is amazing! I've hear the scratchy sound of the 45s used on youtube.but these songs have a new life (suitable for headphones). What did I do after playing this set? I started over again. This a set to Rejoice over and I've had other sets that promised to be this good but only this one hits the mark. This is perfection. So, may I be so bold to say, Buy It! The price is a bargain for three full CDs. I didn't even know it was a 3 CD set because it's not high price and for this quality! I thoroughly welcome a follow-up but RPM have set the bar very high. How about Daughter of Am I Dreaming? I can only hope and pray. Buy it and enjoy the Perfect set of Beat and Northern Soul music. I've got to go, I'm playing it and I'm moving and singing along to Sue & Sunshine.

Lots of great girl group sounds.
As the previous reviewer, I am more than satisfied with this set. At the moment, I’m halfway through listening to cd 2, and it’s so difficult to understand why some of these songs weren’t big hits. A few well known names, including Kiki Dee with her great version of Why Don’t I Run Away From You, Petula Clark with a track I hadn’t heard before, Lulu, Barry St. John, Helen Shapiro and more. The big plus for me though is the very informative booklet, 36 pages of fascinating information on each and every track. RPM, let’s have more like this soon please.

Not worth it a lot of reasons why never made it these artists.
Thought be great this not good at all reasons never heard of any. Is probably got better versions else where. Our American Cousins made the orginal and covers by Brits obscure and painful to listen. If you a fan of obscure tuneless minor Sixties artists this is for you. As for me sticking to Soul and artists that create style panache.

Rare but not necessarily well done.
The best thing about this is the booklet which gives fascinating details of the songs and artists. It really is an album for sixties nerds like myself though. If you played this to someone who had never heard sixties music, he or she would be wondering what the fuss was about, as most of these numbers are quite forgettable. Interesting enough though.
