yet this is an annoying issue. There may be a way to put ...
"Made in Japan" has become synonymous with "World Class Quality". Not exactly true with this helmet. I've been a certified production welder since 1964, and have used a variety of helmets. I currently have three "Jackson" helmets with regular lens, large lens, and an extra large flip-up lens, but this is my first helmet with auto darkening feature. ---- The design of this helmet is very sleek, and the auto darkening feature works well, but the headgear is JUNK !! First of all, the back part, with the knob, flips up and down, but due to the geometry, it tends to flip UP in use. The first time I used this helmet, it fell right off my head onto the floor. To fix that issue, I put that part of the headband in the down position, and put about 4 tight wraps of electrical tape around the hinge. That disabled the up/down feature, and helped a lot, but the headgear still tended to slip due to the smooth plastic surface. To fix that issue, I applied some "craft foam" with self adhesive backing. (You can get this in a craft store. It comes in letter size sheets, about 1/16" thick). I cut a strip 1 1/2 " wide by about 4 inches long and applied to the inside of the head band. (First wipe the plastic with alcohol to remove hair oil). --- The third issue I have with this headgear is that there is only 5/8" of space between the head band, and the shell of the helmet. My Jackson helmets all have 1 1/4" of space. The problem here is that every time I drop the helmet down, the edge of the shell clips the top of my ears. I have a medium size head, 6 3/4" and normal size ears, yet this is an annoying issue. There may be a way to put 1/2" spacers between the headband and the shell, but if not, I may just trash the whole headgear and replace it with a Jackson headband from one of my other helmets. --- If you buy this helmet, be aware that you may have to modify or replace the headgear. The shell and lens gets 5 stars, but the headgear gets zero, so overall I give it 3 stars.

Great Helmet
I have been a welder for many years. I replaced my old Victor helmet with this. The helmet works great. The box they put it in was too small they just crammed it in there. I was worried at first glance it was pretty deformed. I took a heat gun to the shell and let it cool back down with a book on it and it turn out perfect. Great helmet. Looks the same green color as my old helmet. I am using it for TIG and love it.

If you are a professional and looking for an additional welding helmet then this in not the one for you.Head gear very flimsy but it seems to work ok, the lense works very well but the helmet partially blocks the lower two sensors causing instant blindness when welding in a confined area. The hood itself very light but not large enough to cover the neck area, I have burned the heck out of my neck and ended up stapling a leather neck protector to the bottom of hood to protect my neck. There is no contact or phone number to the manufacturer in the included booklet so I'm assuming you buy at your own risk.

Great helmet. Works flawlessly even on a high & low range of TIG jobs which a cheap helmet couldn't handle. Great visibility and no flashing whatsoever.

You only get one set of eyes go with Weldsmart
If it wasn't for Amazon I would have purchased some lame helmet that looked cool but didn't protect my eyes for a cheap price! However Amazon provided great details for this product at a decent price. I will upgrade to a speed glass helmet in the future and it will have to be made in Japan by Weldsmart but for now I'm more then happy with this model specially since it has a 98x88 view
