Kung Fu Study Book: Hard Hand of the Wind: Volume 1

Must have book for any martial artist
This book is excellent, and certainly the most extensive Kung Fu manual I have come across. It is a very large book, both in terms of it's physical size and number of pages (some 230 pages long), and it is so big to accommodate the number of colour pictures that illustrate every stance, exercise, form and technique. The narrative is clear, and the lavish illustration make this book very easy to follow. The focus is on the 'Yang Feng Sau' style, or 'Hard hand of the Wind', popular in South Wales, and very similar too the traditional Taoist style, 'Feng Shou', practiced in the rest of the UK, and of course China. Being an eclectic mix of traditional Kung Fu, with some practical self defence, as well as some interesting chapters on the origins and philosophy behind Kung Fu, makes this book of interest to all Kung Fu practitioners, masters and students alike. The contents is quite comprehensive, and I have yet to see such a complete guide to this art, even the books by Master Chee Soo, good though they are, are not as detailed or complete. This book is a reference I will return too again and again. Oddly, I could not find the web address of Sifu Griffiths in the book, and had to search 'Active Dragon's', the name of his club, to find it. And I am being a bit of a pendant here, but I did notice the odd grammatical/spelling error also. These two gripes aside, when a book opens with a forward and blessing from Chris Crudelli you know you are in good hands.

A book with real kick !
A fantastic book with great step-by-step photos. This book would help the complete beginner and give the more experienced student an extra insight into this popular martial art.The large format, easy to follow instruction and photos make it a must have for all potential students thinking of taking up Kung Fu.The introduction and background section at the start of the book is also well written and informative.
