Your Baby's First Word Will Be DADA

Best as board book for up to 2 year old
I have a 2.5 year old and another baby on the way. I was excited to hear see Jimmy Fallon's book but was disappointed when he showed it on tv and I saw they were paper pages. Based on the content I thought it would be best as a board book. The great news was when I looked it up here on Amazon, I was happy to see there is a board book version. My 2.5 year old already knows all the animal sounds presented in this book and so I think she's already too old for it. We bought it for our upcoming baby. The book is simple, with the dad animal saying "Dada" and the baby animal saying their corresponding sound such as "moo" for the cow as shown on the cover. Although it's a very simple concept with few words, I was actually quite pleased with the length (in pages) of this book. Many of my daughter's board books are only 5 to 6 pages long, but this is about double that length. In terms of pages it's about as long as "Brown Bear, What do you see" or "Goodnight Moon" (pages only, not number of words). The illustrations are cute, but sometimes due to the art style, the animals don't look as similar to their real life counterparts as they could be. Examples include the mouse is very triangular and the horse is very boxy. I get that it's supposed to be a horse, but a 1 to 2 year old might not.Overall though, I think my future baby will really enjoy this book. As I said, I would recommend buying it as a board book as that is best for its intended audience of first word babies. After your baby says his/her first word, then this book can still be of use for teaching animal sounds.

Cute, simple and fun book
I love Jimmy Fallon so I had to get this! I stamped our daughters footprints in the book for her dad, along with sticking their first picture together.

Such a cute story!
“Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada” is such a cute story with recognition to animal sounds, as well as the word “Dada”! I purchased this story for father’s day, and shortly after purchased “Everything is Mama” to complete the set!

In,Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada, father's take center stage
See this review and more at: http://idiosyncraticlibrary.com/?p=419Sometimes I think being a first time father of a newborn must feel like being a relief pitcher in the major leagues. Yes, you're an important part of the team. Just like a relief pitcher, you're essential during innings 7 and 8, when Mom is desperate for five minutes just to take a shower. Its up to you, Dad to come in with a fresh arm and a clean diaper. At contract time, you were sought after, courted. You beat out the hopeless boyfriends from college and the sad sacks from the office. That's why you're here in the majors, smiling for that perfect family Holiday card and folding a stroller that costs more than the Kelly Blue Book value of your first car. No one doubts that your talent and skill are essential for the success of the team, but lets face it, if your inning and a half of pitching doesn't result in a lost baby, or a 911 call, chances are all ESPN will have to say is: "one and a third solid innings from Fallon."Let's face it, Mom is the starter on this team. She's the one everyone is focused on. Does she bottle feed or is she a southpaw? She's the one with the cushy amenities in the locker room, the mommy playdates, the advice books, the baby shower. And if you're team's got a closer, chances are it's Grandma, who takes the baby when he's been crying for an hour, or steps in for date night (a thing you thought you got away from when you left the minors, but whatever). It can leave a Dad feeling like he's been sent to the showers. That's where, Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada comes in. Written by actor, comedian and late night TV host Jimmy Fallon, this is the perfect book for dads who refuse to be pushed into obscurity. Speaking directly to new fathers, the very title of Fallon's book promises new fathers camaraderie and togetherness, and an assurance that you, as Dads, won't be brushed to the side, a forgotten stat.Although it was published earlier this year as a picture book, I prefer this recently released board book format. The format is more suited to the simple sweet tone of the book where Daddy animals grumpily, relentlessly, worriedly and hopefully coach their babies into saying Dada, only to be greeted by meows, squeaks and quacks. Board books, with their thick, drool proof pages and small, tuck-it-in-the-diaper-bag sizing, are designed for a much younger baby, and a much newer father, who may feel more left out of the process than the father of an older, picture book ready child. With charming and cheerful illustrations and easy to read text, this is also a good choice for the family with both a newborn and an early reader.Brush off your cleats, warm up that arm, and get ready to pitch, Dads. The whole team is counting on you.

The Dada Cow Says Moo!
Had to buy twice! My son read it so much it fell apart. He learned all his animal sounds from reading it! A favorite for sure!
