Cammenga S.W.A.T. Tritium Lensatic Compass, Black, Clam Pack (B3HCS)

I was a bit nervous buying a compass online, a few other compasses listed had reviews claiming either broken or counterfeit compasses.I can certify that the one I purchased from axsecure-through amazon obviously, was an authentic black trintium compass (in original packaging).I've used this model for years in the army; so it was the only choice for me. Ultimately I chose black so I could differentiate it from the GI ones.This compass does have trintium (isotope of hydrogen), which has a half life of ~12yrs. This is opposed to phosphorous (aka glow in the dark paint) which will last indefintely, but must be 'recharged' via a light source. I used the glow in the dark version in ROTC and I can definitely say that they are not worth it, if you plan on doing navigation at night that is. Phosphorus loses 'power' very quickly, and quickly becomes useless for reading the degree markings at night.In all I am very satisfied with this compass, and I recommend it for any serious adventurers out there.As an aside if you are unfamiliar with lenstatic compass use, there is an included instruction manual which may be of use to you.

I am very impressed with this compass. I wanted a compass that could be used along with the Army's manual to learn compass navigation. I bought this compass along with a Silva lensatic compass for everyday use. But I quickly learned the shortcomings of the cheaper compasses. In comparison, this compass is easy to get an accurate siting with as long as you follow the manual's guidelines. The cheaper compasses are harder to use to get a precise bearing and hard to site with. As far as the tritium feature goes, as a collector of military gear, I wanted the real one like the U.S. military uses for my collection. Since the Silva didn't meet my needs for an everyday compass, I'll probably end up using this one all of the time. The cheaper one is too much trouble to use once you have tried this one.

Just like the one used by the military. Worth every penny!

If you want to trust your life to a cheap compass that may not work accurately, go ahead. I choose not to. It is more expensive, but can you put a price tag on your life? You get what you pay for with compasses and this is the one for me. I recommend this product.

This is a very well made compass that will hold up to any abuse you throw at it. In case any one was wondering, mine is dated Dec 2019 for manufacture date. This is as New as it gets, not old stock where you worry about the tritium being dated and useless.

Don’t count on your cell phone GPS and don’t cheap out on a compass.Get a book on navigation by compass, and get a GOOD compass like this one.

I love this compass. I received it in great condition. It immediately points north when I stop moving it around and it is not slow in getting to north like other less expensive compasses I have owned in the past. I highly recommend this compass. Also, it doesn't say it, but it did come with its own case. The case is a bit thin and seems somewhat flimsy, but the compass itself is absolutely worth it. It was sold by Save Smart.

I got the SWAT black unit, which is a STELLAR value, and comes with a black case, which I LOVE!Mine was made in 5/15 and that is excellent, will be burning bright for 10 years from now.....solidly crafted, as others have noted the alignment wire is slightly off kilter, but other than that, this unit is pretty much flawless, INCLUDING the bezel clicking positively at each detent.Would purchase again, I have no serious complaints

This is a rugged compass. The tritium tubes give off good light for night use. The instruction book is quite helpful.

I am an outdoorsman, sea, land, desert. I need a reliable cmpass that does not use batteries. tritium light has great visibility at night, combined with the 2 dots on the aim line. easy to carry, rough and cool looking.
