The Perfect Guide for Beginners like me.....
This is the best book to teach you the basics of using your dslr camera. I really lucked out getting this one. Thanks to the reviews I was able to choose a guide that actually taught me how to use my Canon T5i in a way that I can understand. The pictures in the book shows great reference settings and before and after pics of different environments. The most important thing to learn is ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed which was very clear and not polluted with over the top technical terms. Being ADD (for real) it kept my attention and got directly to the point as I needed it to. As a novice in the game my skills have improved drastically because of this guide. This stays in my camera bag for the pointers I need on the spot.I highly recommend this guide. I cant say enough good things about it

The right book
The good thing about this book is layout, most of the photography books out there print the text on a dark background, not cool, this book is easy to read and the text is black on a white background. The info is direct and clear, exactly how a beggginer wants, very good book and my favourite photography book, i would have given it 5 stars if it had more examples, but still worth every dollar.

A MUST READ Book
I was, as is described in the Introduction, one who found it “…all too easy to switch to Auto and leave everything to the camera.” I purchased this book because I accidentally saw a show on public television, “Wild Photo Adventures”, and wanted to learn more about photography. While the book is written for DSLR’s, most of it is also applicable to the “point and shoot” variety (I have a Canon Powershot SX530 HS).Nothing is left to chance, starting with the proper way to hold a camera (I was doing it wrong). Using short, well explained, “lessons”, the book explains and demystifies all those little icons and strange settings that the camera offers. You soon realize that the camera is a little box of technological wizardry…and now you know how to use it!Not only do you easily learn how to get the most from your camera, you also learn how to get the most from your photo editing software. Will the book have you always using a manual mode? No, but now you can choose from ‘Auto’ to ‘Shutter Priority’ to ‘Aperture Priority’…and you’ll know what you’re doing: choosing the best mode for the condition. I can’t say enough good about this book.I just realized that I have only had this book for 5 days! Already I’m setting shutter speeds, apertures, exposures and light conditions. WOW! If you’re looking for an easy, quick way to understand your digital camera, you won’t be disappointed in this book.

This is a very good book for beginners understanding the complexities of digital camera technology. The essential theme of the book is learning the nomenclature and functionality of a digital camera with plenty of tips on how to take a better picture. It is an easy-to-follow from basic to special effects in step-by-step detail that is informative, instructive and inspirational. I highly recommend this book for first time camera hobbyists.

Great intro book!
Excellent book that explains both Nikon and Canon. I took a basic photography class in high school and love to use my camera on auto or aperture modes, and was hoping to branch out a bit further. Really an easy read that simplifies photography and makes it fun to learn. Color photos are very nice, layout is great. I like it so much, I'm going to buy one for my mom as a gift!

Exactly what I was looking for!
This handbook is exactly what I wanted. It's clear and the examples it contains are very helpful, especially for someone like me who has always fiddled around with a decent camera without knowing precisely what was going on. I recommend it to anyone who would like to take a great picture because they want to and not just by accident!

Perfect for amatuers!
Very good as a reference book, for making the most out of situations, Unlike other photography books, this one stays with the kit lenses, and doesnt go onto lenses which most people cant afford.I understand my camera a lot better.
