I am from the same area and I was quite disappointed in this book

Since I grew up in Eastern N.C., I enjoyed the book. It had "Sayings" that I had forgotten, and every time this happenedit brought on a smile! It's been fun to share the book with my wife, who also grew up in Eastern N.C. It took us a while living in California forthe past 30+ years, to get accustomed to calling "supper" dinner among other things!Thank you for writing the book Mr. Beaman!

These are expressions most people already know and honestly some of the meanings are inaccurate. I have been searching for authentic, old southern sayings and their derivations and this is not that.

Having grown up in this area, I grew up hearing and using these sayings. I can also relate to the stories about the area. I have retread the book and each time something new catches my attention. Fun reading!!!

This book is so deceiving from the title. "Eastern" North Carolina, i think not. Walstonsburg is over 2 hours away from Eastern NC and talks nothing about the area it claims to from the title. I received this as a gift, BECAUSE OF THE TITLE. Sadly, the giver wasted their money.....

I'm an author who is not from the deep south, but writing about a place in the deep south. This guide really helped me make my characters and dialogue seem a lot more authentic. A great read for writers who are trying to give voice to southern U.S. characters!
