Rustic Cast Iron Rose Compass Nautical Beach House Wall Art Outdoor Garden Decor

So I bought this while I was in Kuwait we needed the star that was in the middle to build our unit crest this thing was tough and it looked great and it turned out great.

Nice quality cast iron compass rose. I put mine in the patio pointing to true north (by looking at the north star) and it looks great.

Beautiful, just what I was looking for. Quite heavy, well made. Only negative was it has nothing to help hang it on the wall.

I gave this to my husband as part of his Christmas gift last year and we've had it outside ever since. He loves it and admires how well it looks in our patio.

I love this item, which is the only reason I am giving it 3 stars. If the seller had any sense on how to ship it without it breaking, I wouldn't hesitate to give it 5 stars! I ordered it knowing full well (based on other's reviews) that it would most likely be broken upon receipt, and sure enough, the 'S' on the bottom was broken. It was tempting to send it back, but since the seller's method of shipping is a flimsy plastic envelope, I didn't expect much better on a second attempt, so, like many others, I decided to glue it back together (using 2 part epoxy resin), and it worked fine. If I had paid $50 or more dollars (which seems to be the starting point for similar items), then I would have expected more... but at $18 and change, I guess I was willing to work with it. The thing is... in my opinion, the problem of breaking could be easily and relatively inexpensively remedied... all it would take is to attach it to a piece of cardboard using a couple of wire ties, or even a dab or two of hot glue, so that N, E, S & W would not be the first things to hit when the edge of the envelope comes in contact with something.At any rate, I do love the addition to my man cave, and I made an interesting, accidental discovery the other night while watching the Disney movie "The Adventures of Huck Finn." Starting at about the 29 min and 23 sec mark, you will see this exact same compass rose on the cabin door of the ship Huck and Jim boarded during a storm on the Mississippi River at night (see attached pic). At any rate, if you don't mind gluing the broken piece(s) when you get it, it's a nice item for the price.
