The Best Headlamp for Travelers
I owned the original Zipka for over ten years and it still works. I was wondering if they would update it with modern features and I'm so glad they did. This is the best headlamp for travel as it takes up far less space in your bag or pocket than a traditional design. I find it comfortable and it has great performance to boot. The "string" that you use to wear the headlamp is comfortable and secure, but it can leave a crease on your forehead after you use it. This solution is so much more space efficient than the large tangle of nylon most headlamps use. The light itself is a full quality Petzl. Bright enough that I usually use it in the dimmer mode. The batteries last so long it seems like magic. And all this in a water resistant design! This model is an improvement on the original. The battery compartment doesn't open up in your bag, and I appreciate the option to use a red light. The design is a bit handsomer as well, not that anyone will ever notice. They did reduce the brightness modes from three to two, but I prefer it as I only ever used the highest or dimmest modes. They added an extra strobe mode, so now there are two blinking modes instead of two, but I haven't had the chance to use it.For over a decade when people see how small and useful my Zipka is, they want one for themselves. I still can't believe it's not a more popular model. Just a super item all around. Buy it, use it, love it.

Compact, bright, and extremely versatile. Perfect for deployments.
Ordered this in preparation for my husband's deployment. We already own several other headlamps, but I wanted to equip him with something better. I shopped around and researched headlamps with the one requirement the headlamp must have red LED/night-vision capabilities. Ended up ordering this and the Petzl Tikka XP2 (traditional headband version).I'm super pleased with both purchases. It's not quite as bright at the XP2, but still provides plenty of bright light. This is very compact and light. The retractable strap is pretty comfortable. It's a little awkward around the head, but great around the wrist, and best of all: you can strap it to anything else: bag strap, pillar - it's the best feature.Another plus: comes with duracell batteries! Now that's quality.[Update July 2014]: we now recommend this headlamp to all of friends preparing for deployment. My husband loved how tiny, durable, and powerful this was; when you are already lugging around a ton of gear and have limited space, size and weight are a priority. The lack of the headband really cuts down on size and doesn't affect functionality (the retractable backing worked great) -- it was easy to carry around in his pocket. We still use this headlamp when we travel, go hiking, other outdoor activities, and I even use it at home when I need a flashlight!Spend the extra money, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome light
This headlamp has it all; compact, bright, adjustable levels, and a red light. My last Zipka lasted 5 years and wish it had a lifetime warranty like Princeton Tec products.

convenient to wear. nice and small. not clunky or heavy. no bouncing around during your run. but i expected much, much more light.

very bright light but...
for around 40 dollars I would expect a few things. First is it is NOT water proof and second while the design is innovating with the spring loaded head band in the end, its a string. after a certain amount of use this string will break I expect from use.but its brighter than my energizer 7 led head light. The one petzl LED is brighter than the 5 white LEDs on my energizer headlght. this is great but I feel confident about going out in the rain in my energizer. the petzl is a great light but it needs to be water proof and the string should be a kevlar cable or something,

Best headlight that I have ever used!
I was introduced to this headlamp by a fellow hiker while in Scotland. He used it to illuminate our work area by fastening it to a broomstick. I was fascinated by its ability to adapt to different uses while shinning a very bright light! I purchased my own some months ago and have never regretted my purchase. The positives of this light is it's brightness, battery life, and its small size (sure beats the bulkiness of my last headband light). There are no downsides to this light.

Great, useful, handy headlamp
I love this headlamp. It's the only kind I buy. It takes up little space and not only can you put it on your head, you can also put it on your wrist, your ankle, or anything that the elastic will go around. The battery lasts a pretty long time but not really as long as the time stated in the description. It may last that long but the beam will be very weak. And it's great that if uses AAA batteries. You can find those anywhere and they are not expensive.

great design!
I love these headlamps. They are so convenient due to their compact size, brightness, and retractable headband design. Just make sure you hold from the lamp and the backstrap when removing from your head. If you just pull up and out from the lamp off your head the retractable system tends to get tangled with your hair.

Superb little torch
I'd never considered a headtorch before, and had only seen the ones with straps etc., making them bulky. This is a great little device - really compact, slip it in a pocket, two light levels (the dim one being ideal for reading or close up DIY when you don't want a glaring light). I wore this for hours when painting the house as dusk fell - no problems at all.My friend has seen it - now he is going to buy one as well. I was about to spring for an LED hand torch, but I'm glad I didn't - this will be of more practical use to me for walks and DIY.

Best head torch ever. Seriously it is.
Best head torch ever. Seriously it is.Wear it on your head, your arm, wrap it around bike handle bars or anything else you have around you. Small enough to leave in a day bag just in case you ever need it and yet really quite powerful. I've owned 3 of these over the years now and they are quite simply the best torch I've ever bought.
