Solid
Works like a charm. Compact size, fun and easy to use. My only complaint is that unlike a similar blaster the Nerf Retaliator, this Recon MKII only comes with 6x darts and a 6 dart magazine rather than a 12x like the retaliator. Also, for my recon, the sliding prime handle was a little loose, and if you point the blaster straight down, sometimes it will slide halfway to finish the priming action. Other than that, you may not have that issue and I certainly didn’t find anything else hindering the blasters performance

The Nerf Modulus Recon MKII Blaster is a great NERF gun
The Nerf Modulus Recon MKII Blaster is a great NERF gun. It fires well. Unlike some other nerf guns we own, we have not had a jam with the particular style, yet. It has been in a few NERF wars. We bought an extended magazine for it, and so we can fire this 18 times in a row without a jam. That's a pretty good record, if you ask me. My 7 year old is not a big fellow, and this gun is easily usable for him. He is able to cock the gun for firing by himself. I think it is worth mentioning that there are TWO different modulus styles, and even though the modulus extendable packs you can buy do not say it is not for this gun, the long range and the stealth ops upgrade kits are meant for that one, not this one. So make sure you are getting the one for the right gun. My kids love this gun and I have 3 total. Big hit in our house.

A fun blaster, but needs some revision
When I first got the blaster, I didn't expect much out of it. It acts like a Retaliator, feels like a Retaliator, but it's not a Retaliator in some ways. I really enjoyed how cool the barrel extension works, definitely gonna keep that on. The stock is a no for me, way too short and I instantly replaced it with another stock of mines. The fact that it doesn't accept 18 round magazines and 25 round magazines was a bummer, but I'm okay with 12 round magazines. It's a good gun with ranges in the high 60s to low 70s FPS but I suggest modding it to make it reach its full potential. Great gun, but seriously Hasbro. Fix the 18 round problem. Other than that, had a ton of fun making it a blaster rifle.

Excellent addition to ECS-10
Too cool! First Nerf was the Modulus ECS-10 Blaster. While I love the rifle size and rapid fire ability of the ECS-10, the spool up and motor noise make it hard to get off a first fire ambush shot. This MKII is a perfect stealth fire gun. A little big for a sidearm but an excellent partner to the ECS-10. A huge bonus is that all the accessories are interchangeable. One thing with mine is that swapping the magazines they do not seem to want to latch causing misfires (could be me).

Retaliator remix under the Modulus nameplate; averaging 63 FPS stock.
This is just for the blaster core, nothing else in the frustration-free packaging. A terrific idea for those with a lot of Nerf parts from other blasters, kits, etc. The Modulus Recon MK 2 averages 63 feet per second (FPS) on my ProChrono Digital Chronograph. It is pretty much like the Retaliator's little brother (see pictures). There are some shortcomings that make it inferior to a Retaliator, though, and it's not just because it is slightly weaker (and erroneously advertised with longer 90 ft ranges). You can fit 18-dart magazines and all the Nerf drums (unlike the first release of is blaster that would have killed sales for about 90% of the target market). There is a tactical rail located on top of the priming slide, the same weird place as the original Recon and Retaliator, but his might become a future blessing because it is somewhere to attach an aftermarket pump-action grip to. There is also a tactical rail on the right side of the blaster shell like the Nerf Demolisher and Rayven's rail locations, a feature which I think people will like better. It may be just my imagination, but the trigger has a less satisfying pull. Like it has a slightly heftier and gummier spring inside or something. The ergonomics are fine for me; I have no qualms about it like I half-thought that I might because of the small-looking space that the hand-guard leaves, but my fingers fit comfortably while holding it and with room to spare. At 1st glance, even the sling mount looks too thick to attach a bandolier to. But I have managed to fit one on, and then take it off without much trouble. I did not do any performance upgrades to it [yet], but it is likely able to utilize an Orange Mod Works/ Blasterparts Retaliator upgrade spring. Be forewarned though, as a higher tension +5kg weighted spring will put undue stress on your blaster's internal parts, shortening the life of the blaster. So modify it at your own risk (is 90 FPS with the stock air restrictor worth it to you?). The attachments it comes with work but they come with their own quirks: the Barrel attachment looks like the Modulus blaster's double-ended barrel attachment, just without the double-ended part. It is a friction-fit type with a small tube, and it lacks the little connector nub (the one with the spring that supposed to lock it more securely into place) found in most other barrel attachments. In my opinion it stays in place good enough for it's small size, and I found that the barrel is too short for it to lose any distance from it's dart ranges. In other words, my velocity readings did not detect any barrel drag (this is a good thing). There is a faux tactical rail under the barrel attachment, I thought to mention that, not to inform you, but just to laugh at that weird fact. Why in the world would they go through the trouble of making a fake tactical rail? I don't know, and do not get me started on the shoulder stock, because this thing is just too darn short and too darn ugly. Mind this opinion, but don't get me wrong, it is a very solid piece despite being from a cost-cutting skeletal plastic mould. I think they could have found a way to made it short enough for younger users without alienating larger/older users, but they didn't. As an update, the blaster jammed on me, causing the trigger to lock up for 6-7 attempts before firing each shot. It also caused me to subtract another star from this blaster's rating. From my experience with the Retaliator and the other "springers" I knew fully-well the lock that was responsible for such a mishap and it was an easy fix (see last pic). After I opened it up, I noticed the catch mechanism was the same as the Retaliator's. This was not a surprise, but it did not look particularly strong. I removed the lock and it it worked, but with infrequent misfires. But of course, it was not likely due to my lock removal. Without that lock, the Recon MK 2 will jam if double-primed (primed twice in a row without firing the previous dart in the chamber). Not a problem for me, but I can see it being an issue for those challenged individuals with limited technical know-how. Still, you can just as well buy a blaster that doesn't have as many problems to begin with.

Great fun
My kids and I were having a nerf battle, they had me pinned down in my bedroom, as they scavenged the hall outside my door for darts I retrieved this from my closet (they didn't know I bought it, or the 12rd mags) and turned the tide of battle. As they fled the doorway and retreated up the stairs I kept their heads down with supressive fire. It was wonderful. Don't worry I had two more which I gave them later, I might be mean but i'm not a tyrant. Good fun.

He has so much fun playing with the Blaster
I purchased this for my grandson who loves nerf products. He has so much fun playing with the Blaster. It seems to work great, has a long range when shooting. it is well built and has stood up to a kid's rough treatment. This is by far one of his favorite Nerf guns to play with. I would highly recommend this.

This gun is simply amazing! The modulus series is great for the amount of customization's you can make. I bought my brother this gun along with a clip extension and some sight, barrel, and grip extensions. The gun got larger and looks really cool! He loves it!
