I use two other solar pumps but only this have battery backup to let it run few more hours which is good but the price fo these two added togheter still less than half of this Gardon Sun Light pump. I read a lot of reviews and pick this one because it have timer if I need to use it orin case need to change the battery is availble to find. I got a 5/16-IN PVC tubing LFT item # 748294 @ 39 cents per ft. at Lowes thus will let you have the right length to use for fountain or waterfall. Ialso added a pre-filter around it to prevent it clogs, in order need to open up this small pump to clean that will be much easier to use the hose clean the pre-filter. The manual is not so clear but you can just try it and get the answer by yourself. This is quite expensive but if the place do not have a power outlet can use this unit will be a good choice. Hopefully it can last for at least two to three years otherwise will be quite costly, by looking at that the material cost plus profit, The reasonable price range should be between $40 to $45 max and now is a little too high. One star took off is mainly from this.Update : 6/16at June full sun in California the battery support can last almost 4 hrs. after sunset. This is only a temporary set up to verify if it can work and I add a 5 ft. plastic hose the output power is very good as the purpose of water fall.This is only a 20 gallon very small pond I use to plant the Lotus and some water plants in two containers will a bag and the foam on it top that can fload thus will minimize the soil can go to the pre-filter. I will put some mosquito fishes in it as well.

This product came directly from China, no problem, but I've been reading about a lot of knock-offs, so beware. I absolutely love the fountain spout light. It sits snugly around the fountain spout with a plug-in attachment that lengthens the spout. At night with the water flowing it is beautiful. The pump is super small but powerful and provides about 30 inches of lift, which is fine for my fountain. Be sure to read your fountain manufacturer's specs regarding the lift needed. The solar panel and battery are working fine after about a month of service, but full-on sun will be needed to keep ample power available. I let the battery charge most of the day and run the fountain at night because with the lighting (I purchased a separate underwater LED for the larger lower basin), the effect is magical. We'll see how long the battery lasts. The battery is rather large, but it also contains the controller.

This product is impressive. It gives a good size fountain, when the sun is out, and the battery power last quite long in the evening or on cloudy days. It is easy to set up and works in a few minutes out of the box. I mounted the solar panel on a long stake to give it height.I found out that the fountain will stop after about 4 hours at night but in the morning I could turn the battery power on again and the fountain would work for a few more hours until the sun rises again. It is summer now so not sure how it would do during the winter and fall seasons.I gave it four stars instead of five because you cannot control the height of the fountain when in Solar mode. This may become problematic if your pond is too small to contain the fountain within the pond. If the fountain shoots water outside of the pond you will run out of water quickly. It would also been perfect if it would go to battery power automatically when there is not enough sunlight. I had to really work at finding a way to secure the pump in the pond because the suction cups were not strong enough to keep it in place.That said, I really like this water pump and would get another if I needed one. My neighbors were very impressed to see the fountain and that it runs on solar power. At night the LED lights really adds to the ambience of the pond. Don't forget to check the water height of your pond periodically because of evaporation due to the spraying. My fish and water plants are loving their new fountain.

Before purchasing this item, I read the customer reviews and compared to other items of the same type. I only gave four stars because I did have to add additional tubing to make the water pump work for my fountain. The fountain I used this on is a decorative cement fountain that has four jugs sitting atop of the basin, and the top jug spills water into the other three descending jugs and then back into the bottom basin. I thought that a 1.2 meter spray with this fountain would work, however I had to add additional tubing to make it flow from the basin to the top jug. If this item is purchased for a pond or simple water structure, I highly recommend this product.I chose solar because my fountain is place in the center of my back yard and did not want to run electrical cable from the house to the fountain. It receives approximately 12 hours of direct sunlight (Tennessee) during the day and the battery will allow the fountain to run quite late at night. The battery switches over to run the pump without human intervention, which is quite nice. The battery does charge while the fountain is working during the day, however if there is a cloudy day, the fountain will not work with the solar charger.This pump has been running on its own for approximately two months. The control/battery box for the water pump is place under a wooden box to keep it out of the weather. I am taking extra precautions with this product due to the cost of the item.
