Tubeless set up
Installed as a tubeless and got a flat in the first ride. Had to add slime and it’s now been ridden 300 miles without a problem. It has good traction on light trails. Aesthetically it looks thinner than a 45. Performance wise it’s a decent value for the money.

Good front for dry single track
Mounted it tubed on the front of my Sirrus X for improved cornering in dry twisty single track. Measured 45.3 mm at max psi when I initially seated the bead. Rode it at 30 psi.Easy install without levers. Pretty quiet on asphalt, but feels a touch slower than my Maxxis Rambler or Specialized Pathfinder. Front end feels like it wants to wash out on fast asphalt corners and moderate mud, but very good bite and predictable drifting on dry hardpack and loose over hard.I ride in an area of Denver where the trails are mellow and free of rocks, but the competition is fierce among mountain bikers. Many national pros train and race the single track and fast double track where I tested this tire. My maiden voyage in light mud (slow conditions) was lackluster, but i did have a couple PRs on climbs so i think it rolls fine. The first day i rode the same trails dry I PR'd almost every section of single track without ever feeling like I was pushing the tire's traction limits in corners. I got a KOM on a paved sprint around a pond, and another on a short sprint climb with a crucial corner at the bottom. My overall times on flat to descending single track were in the top 3% to 10% of several thousand riders on Strava. Not bad for a 190 lb 50 something washed up motocrosser. The Riddler 45c is a winner for MTB like handling with minimal sacrifice in rolling resistance.

Good tire for light trail.
Well built with thick wall for puncture resistant. Ride a few times on trail and Like the comfortable ride compared to previous 40mm tire width although a bit heavier. Give good grip on gravel and dirt trail and kick up a lot of dust on bike chain and frame.
