Love my Takamine GX 11
I just received my Takamine guitar and it's BEAUTIFUL! I am a beginner (nice beginner guitar for sure) so as too sound my review is limited since I only know a few chords. But playing the chords I do know the guitar sounds great. I also plugged it into my PA and wow. Warm rich tone IMO. The quality is excellent. The guitar looks better in person. I debated between the GX 11 and GX 18 cutaway. I chose the GX11 mahogany full body because not many in this color. Which ever of these models you chose you won't be disappointed. It comes with a nice gig bag. It's perfect for my needs. As to delivery time, shipping product description: EXCELLENT!!!! No dings. Nothing broken. The box wasn't beat up. It was well protected. Overall I gave this five stars. I can't wait to learn how to really play this guitar.

Worth the money - plays well, decent quality
Bought as a travel guitar and it works well for that purpose. It plays easily and intonation is good. Build quality/appearance is excellent. Acoustic sound quality is, of course, limited based on its size, materials and scale length. The short scale length induces "accidental" bends and note sharpening when fretting compared to a standard-length scale. It goes out of tune fairly easily though this is related to the guitar "warming" as you play - the shorter the scale, the more this can occur, especially if the room temperature is somewhat cool. As the guitar warms while being played, the dimensions of the soundbox expand slightly and the short scale is more affected by that dimensional change than a standard scale. I played several house parties with the guitar and it required tuning for pretty much each song for the first 5-6 songs. Afterwards it was stable.I know the above doesn't sound great but you have to consider the limitations of the price/design/size. CONSIDERING the price, it's a good buy and you get what you paid for. The most important aspect is that it plays nicely as delivered and sounds OK. But do NOT expect the sound quality to equal the ad copy! Plugged In, the sound is controlled by whatever amp/PA so what the guitar sounds like acoustically on its own is not too important. The pickup controls on the guitar are extremely basic but work well, as is true of all Takamine guitars.I'd say this is a good travel guitar or a decent beginner guitar for a young person with small hands. It is easy to play! The price is such that you don't have to worry about it getting scratched/dented and if a beginner loses interest, you haven't thrown much money away!

Great-sounding smaller-bodied guitar
These days I tend to play more ukulele than guitar and I find that now when I pick up an acoustic guitar its like putting a double bass under your arm. Therefore I've been looking for a smaller guitar so the contrast won't be too great but many of the cheaper parlour guitars that I've tried just sound too puny and 'thin' and to me travel guitars look 'wrong'.I'd never heard of the Chinese-made Takamine GX11 ME-NS when I came across it in a music shop but I loved the look of it's satin-finished mahogany body, complete with black binding and black pick guard. And when I picked it up and played it it sounded very good - surprisingly loud with the mahogany giving a characteristic 'dark' and 'woody' tone. The guitar comes with Takamine's TP-4T preamp (complete with bass, middle and treble sliders, tuner and 'low battery indicator') and also sounds excellent when plugged in, typical of all Takamine electro acoustics. The back, sides and top are all laminated mahogany and while a solid top would have been nice the sound is still very good and the laminated wood obviously keeps the cost down when comparing it to say the similar but much more expensive Taylor Mini Mahogany. The neck is a 3-piece mahogany neck (1.65" at the nut) with black binding (with fret markers) and a rosewood fingerboard and the frets are perfectly finished and it is lovely to play. It's got a short scale neck of 221/2" (as compared to my full-size acoustic's 241/2") but it doesn't fell small to play, just comfortable and accessible. The bridge is rosewood and the nut and saddle look to be plastic rather than bone. The guitar comes with a serviceable padded black nylon Takamine gig bag complete with large pocket for leads etc.I was willing to pay much more than this modest price for the right guitar but I am very happy with this guitar which does everything that I want and I still think that it looks great (with a similar understated look to the Martin 15M series at a fraction of the price) and also sounds great both acoustically and plugged in. Four and a half stars.

A perfect instrument
I adore my Takamine! This mahogany guitar has such a rich, warm sound. Also, the projection is great (don't let the 3/4 size scare you)! It is a beautiful instrument with so many things to offer (including a case). You won't regret this purchase!
