Valerie, a model with a promising career, Valerie heads out to the local fitness club to use their sun-tanning bed. She needs to look her best for her Cosmopolitan magazine cover shoot. Alas, Valerie's visit will end in tragedy when the machine malfunctions, burning her to death. Despite Valerie's death being a public relations nightmare, things are back up and running at the club with the iron-fisted Rhonda (Marci Karr, Maniac Cop) in charge. But tragedy is lurking just around the corner when another club member is soon found stabbed to death. Enter Lieutenant Morgan (David James Campbell, Scarecrows), the cop on the case. Tasked with solving the crimes, he's in for more than he expected as the body count rises. Who's behind the grizzly slayings? What's their motive? And, who will be the next victim?

Just pure fun
Bad acting, weird story but highly entertaining. The kills are decent enough and it's never boring. The music is actually pretty decent for low budget. This is really a must see. It's super fun

Let's Get Ready to Aerobicise!
At last Killer Workout (aka Aerobicide) has been given an official release! This is my personal favorite Prior's brothers film - a campy celebration of the slasher genre that also nods to the fitness craze of the 1980's. Lots of blood and T&A (Dianne Copeland, oh my), plus bodybuilder brawls, a crotchety detective, incredible pop songs, mullets, Ted Freakin' Prior, and a riotous twist ending. This is B-movie gold for horror geeks and VHS hounds like myself, and if you're a fan of retro-horror/late night flicks then believe me you're gonna wanna get your pump on at Rhonda's Workout.Slasher Video (who has also given us DVD and Bluray editions of cult gems like Deadly Prey, Cemetery Sisters and Boardinghouse), did an excellent job in polishing up the PAL Beta SP they received for the release (the best known copy of the footage remaining, as the original 35mm print was destroyed). The image is sharper and clearer than any VHS copy you might have or the bootlegs you'd find floating around horror cons. Not only is the image as clear as we'll ever get (it is from a master tape, so there are occasional blips), but the sound quality is excellent - none of the fuzz you get on VHS transfers to DVD. Some may moo and cough about the image being boxed or not being in HD, but Slasher Video is very upfront about the quality and ratios, and they did a nice job cleaning up a film that was on the edge of extinction, persevering it for future generations.I want to point out that the negative reviews on here are actually reviewing a previous release of this film by "Mom and Pop Video", a bootleg outfit. So, any reviews of this product that you read from before 2015 should be disregarded. This edition is stellar. So what are you waiting for? Grab your leg-warmers and let's get ready to Aerobicise! Watch out for that safety pin!!!

“Wow! That was rad!”
I much prefer the original title―Aerobicide, it’s more to the point. Otherwise, this is just another routine slasher flick of no merit. It’s one distinction is that it overuses music and exercising until it begins to feel more like a workout video. There’s a high body count but the weapon of choice is silly. Pinning people to death just doesn’t have the same sting as a chainsaw or an axe. The cop on duty is a tough talking ‘grimace’ who glowers and sneers at everyone. The characters who die in rapid succession are mere ciphers, there’s nothing to distinguish them from one another. Not a lot of thought went into this movie, thanks entirely to producer, writer, director David A. Prior. I watched this feature to the bitter end. At best it’s watchable. But...I wasn’t impressed.

What is bad?
Last night we watched Cat Woman 2004 and today, Killer Workout. What is bad? Between the two {BAD} movies I laughed harder than I have in weeks and I had so much fun. I think if a movie is genuinely trying the obvious misses don't hurt as much. At least they tried and Killer Workout does try. There is an actual story here with characters you can follow from scene to scene : Rhonda, Jimmy, the detectives, the hunky LT, Jamie. Speaking of these characters, their unpredictable actions lead to moments that really you'd never see coming. Who saw that fight at Rhonda's house coming or the confrontation in a moving vehicle, or the very lengthy monologue at the end from the detective just when you think Rhonda's had it? I'll tell you, neither of us did. They spend 200 million on films today and can't even manage such bemusing direction. Granted, usually it doesn't work and it is a faux pas, but for some reason here it works and you will not have a bad time if you watch this movie with a friend, NO WAY. That's a promise.

Decent eighties horror film ,Blu-ray is best you gonna get but flawed
Relatively good film in the low budget sphere of eighties horror, has cliches all over the place but still worth watching.Quite a body count of victims but not too much blood or gore ,the budget really shows here.In between murders there are quite of few aerobic workouts with girls in spandex. The music goes between bouncy workout numbers to early synthesizer music, solid soundtrack. Now to the Blu-ray transfer ,it is just a copy of a PAL Betamax tape so don't expect much.I only reason it is done in Blu-ray instead of DVD is so no one will wait for the Blu-ray.There are about 5 times your really notice this is a copy of a tape watching the movie. The worst is when one of the soon to be in victims is in her apartment,it looks as her lights are flickering in a strobe effect and I expected her to call the electric company on the phone. Then the flickering stops and you realize it was the tape. The other bad tape moment happens during the credits ,if you care about who did the songs in the film you are out of luck ,screen goes very blurry and you can't read a thing.Other than that a few times you can tell where the tape got very badly treated and it was beyond help. The 3 special features are 1)An eight minute photo montage with music stills from the film ,storyboard screens ,pictures of the various vhs releases and pictures of the actual source tape for the Blu-Ray 2) A Fifteen second beginning sequence with the "Killer Workout" title (The main film uses "Aerobicide" as the title 3)The coming attraction commercial for the Blu-Ray ,not the theatrical trailer .

Great movie for genre buffs. Unfortunate the HD transfer wasn't better but it's better than nothing.

"..A SLEAZY 80'S HORROR CLASSIC.."
Better known as AEROBICIDE...PLOT...A local gym where sexy women come to do their work out with Rhonda becomes the target of a murderer slicing up beautiful young girls, a local detective comes in to investigate and try to stop the murderous spree of a maniac without a motive (or have they)This is another great movie release from 88 Films, just a shame this was not on Blu-ray, this is certainly a classic 80's slasher and a 100% product of the 80's in every way, there is tons of beautiful young women working out and exercising with close ups of boobs and bums etc, there is nudity and bloody deaths and classic cheesy music, its really quite entertaining especially if you love this era of VHS cheesy low rent slashers, its just a shame the picture quality on the DVD is a little naff sometimes and the sound is Mono, I highly recommend it anyway as its a great must have slasher classic indeed.DVD has one feature which is an alternate opening credit scene with the killer workout title.Reversible sleeve with better artworkRegion FREE DVD, 85-mins, 1987.English language only. Mono sound,Full-screen 4:3. (meaning some TVs or players play it square in the middle of the screen so you have to zoom the picture)
