No Examples, No Comprehension.
He starts off well with a Cliff's Notes version of the basics of GTD. He then discusses why he prefers OneNote to Evernote and shows an example of a OneNote notebook set up with sections that work with the GTD principles. Then he starts with filling your "In" box with all the things you have to/want to do, one thing per page. He goes through the decision process to decide what to do with each "In" item but this is where it starts to go downhill. He goes off into OneNote land describing the software and keyboard shortcuts that are available in great detail. Instead of telling us how the integrate GTD, he is turning the book into a software manual for OneNote.Instead of going into so much detail with the software he should present a few examples. Walking us through the setup and execution of some example tasks and projects in the OneNote software. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words but once he gets past setting up the notebook with sections there are no more illustrations of GTD sample elements in a OneNote notebook...you are on your own. He also says, each thing on a page and then says all the notes that go with something should be on their own separate page. I don't understand why you wouldn't put that notes on the same page as what you are trying to accomplish.When I got this book I thought I would be comfortable with setting up GTD in OneNote after reading it. Having read it, I still don't have enough detail to effectively set up and use GTD with OneNote. Either I am stupid or the book did not accomplish the task of showing me how to do it. What's the "Next Action" to be....figure it out on my own or just use paper???? That's the question.

Not Worth the Money
Not worth the money. I am a fan of GTD and was wanting to utilize OneNote for my organizing system instead of paper, so I thought this would be a good way to learn the tricks and tips. It was just OK. Don't get me wrong, there were some good tips on how to use pages for individual items versus lists, etc, but overall the book was pretty weak on details. It also had poor quality figures that were marginally helpful. It was disappointing that about half of the book was a basic recap of GTD, and a comparison of OneNote versus Evernote; I really didn't want this stuff. It was also strange how the book was published with large font and double line spacing, almost like back in school when the teacher would ask you to write a 5-page report and you'd bump up the font, line spacing, and margins to stretch a 3-page report to five. Maybe the author was getting paid by the page.If you are new to GTD, don't cheat yourself and think you can learn GTD by reading through the summary included in this book; get the GTD book to fully learn the system. If you're looking to apply OneNote to GTD, there are cheaper and better guides out there, including from GTD.

The GTD solution proposed here doesn’t work on IOS. Wasted my time. Might still work, but not the way he shows.
Sadly, I was so convinced by the author’s encouragement for implementing GTD in OneNote that I spent significant time starting to set the app up. Then I discovered that a key function he uses DOES NOT exist on IOS. My whole rationale for OneNote was based on cross platform sync with Windows. But if I create custom tags on my PC, they don’t appear on my iPad. He should have warned me before insisting that I go to the trouble of setting up a system that will not interoperate. Also, his graphics are almost illegible on iPad Kindle, even when zoomed.

Jack Echo's book has saved GTD for me
I started my GTD story with this book... I was planning to buy Getting Things Done for quite some time, but the OneNote idea was my trigger here. I used OneNote a lot before, but only for note taking and storing Internet content for further reading.Once I got to questions (too many of those) regarding next actions for project I had to refer to the original ideas from Getting Things Done system, and bought the David Allen's original, revised ebook. To be honest, Jack Echo's book has saved GTD for me. If not for Jack Echo's ideas I would have deemed GTD as interesting but way too overwhelming idea - simply not suitable for my world. But my life and work is 90% electronic content and information. And I REALLY CAN employ GTD on OneNote for my personal efficiency. It realy saves my time and energy :) Thanks!

Great book - it will get you up and running in no time!
What a great book! A quick and easy read - concise, yet contains all the essential steps for implementing GTD in OneNote. It also contains a great review of the GTD system, and introduction to OneNote for those who aren't familiar with it. The last couple chapters with tips and tricks for OneNote was worth the price of the book. Yes, it could do with another editing phase - there are a few grammatical errors - but that doesn't detract from the book's contents. If you're using the GTD system, and would like to get up and running with OneNote, get this book immediately and you'll be processing things from your "In" folder in no time!

You convinced me to shift to OneNote Jack!
I just love that I bought this book by Jack Echo! I have been and Evernote for more than 2 years now and I never really liked OneNote and thought that it is too complicated to use! But after reading this book, I has realized that I have been wrong for so long! That sucks! Okay, here's the deal.. OneNote and EverNote basically works the same. But you will find other really cool stuffs that OneNote has that you will never get in Evernote. I don't want to spoil your excitement, but you need to read this book so you'd know and I can assure you that you will make the shift just like what I did!Many Thanks!

Not as in depth as the TOC led me to believe. Very short and not worthwhile.
After purchasing this (didn't overspend on it) I did some searching and found everything in this on the internet for free. I'm kicking myself for the couple of dollars I spent when I didn't need to spend anything. I was looking for a little more in depth guide on OneNote and how to use it with GTD, what I got was some pretty cool keyboard shortcuts (listed on MS website) and an overview of GTD. I'm not blaming the writer for this, but I am blaming me for buying it. I probably wouldn't have bought it though if I could have looked at a longer sample. The TOC was probably a little misleading. Do yourself a favor and do some Bing or Google or DuckDuckGo searches and buy the GTD book.

This is a very good read if you are struggling with organising and want a straight forward method to do so. Although the book is a user guide to onenote it gives a lot of tips in the beginning on how to organise yourself in order of priority. It then goes more in depth on how onenote compared to evernote which is also a popular application so you can see the benefits of both. A good guide to using Onenote.

Practical Guide on how to use One Note to GTD
Having just read David Allen's Getting Things Done this was a perfect read and has helped me enormously. Not an in depth technical user manual by any means but a very practical way to use One Note to easily get started.

Ich hatte Hoffnung dass das Buch mir zeigt wie man GTD mit OneNote umsetzt.Dir erste Hälfte des Buchd hat sich an der Oberfläche kurz mit GTD beschäftigt um dann in endlosen Seiten zu erklären warum OneNote besser ist als Evernote oder überhaupt das beste Programm seit geschnitten Brot.Die Fortschrittanzeigr zeigt 42% bevor es dann endlich wieder in Richtung GTD geht. Aber dann auch nur ein paar Seiten um dann wieder in die OneNote for Windows Bedienung abzudriften. Dort bleibt das Buch auch bis kurz vor den letzten Viertel einem gratuliert wird das man jetzt am Ende angekommen ist und jetzt alles kann.Die letzt 25% des Buchs wurden dann mit einer mehr oder weniger sinnvollen Abhandlung über Produktivität vollgestopft.Wenn man dem Titel also glauben schenkt dann kann man das Buch auf ein Drittel zusammenstreichen und diese paar Informationen finden sich dann auch noch im Internet.Sorry, mehr wie ein Stern ist so was nicht wert.

Useful book, even if GTD methods are not developed as it could have been
For users already using OneNote , the book will turn out to be quite basic. The basics of GTD methods is explained, although how to actually exploit OneNote to build a GTD-based workflow is not properly developed.

Soy usuario de OneNote y aún así, este libro me enseñó muchas cosas que no sabía del producto. Buena comparación de OneNote vs EverNote. El último capítulo es muy bueno en explicar porqué y cómo tomar notas.

Delivers what it promises
Great book and entertaining to read. Gives a brief summary of GTD and OneNote. Contains good OneNote setup. I'd still buy the original GTD book in addition.

This book is pathetic
I wanted a book to learn OneNote specifically to help me track "things to do". But this guy waffles about being organised, quotes lots of other books and appears to have just stolen their ideas. Very little effort was spent on formatting as you can see in the Look Inside. Large text, no colour, very few screenshots. You are wasting your money if you by this for anything related to OneNote or Getting Things Done.And Amazon should not have associated it with David Allen - Getting Things Done as it is far inferior, in fact it does not compare.I am amazed Amazon actually stock it. Pity I cannot assign minus stars.

Discovering more about onenote
This guide has been a great guide for me as I have been struggling to use onenote for a while until I came across this guide. This guide has helped me organise more projects more easily and has given me the skills and knowledge to really use onenote to it’s potential in helping me get things done. It’s easy to follow and not complicated at all unlike some other guides out there that was providing a lot of different steps. I would recommend this book to those who aren’t familiar with onenote and wanting to really learn it with this guide.

Absolute lightweight rubbish. It's a guide to the author's GTD methodology and nothing really to do with OneNote. I was looking for an in-depth user guide to OneNote and this is certainly not that. Think it's very dodgy marketing to use the OneNote logo in this way. I'll be very wary of buying these over-marketed US guide books ever again
