Much safer, much more energy efficient!
As an 80+ couple, we prefer to boil just one cup rather than a heavy kettle - so much lighter to use, so much less chance of a serious scalding accident. And now, much cheaper to use, saving electricity costs. We strongly recommend this. (Would make a super gift for elderly parents !)

Excellent quality and works fantastic looks great
This is an excellent hot water dispenser I have tried many different types as being a disabled wheelchair user having a standard kettle or a kettle that tips in a cradle is just too dangerous and the risk of injury is too high. This excellent Breville hot cup is light weight well built looks great in silver and this model has the 2ltr capacity so that's great as you dont have to spend time filling the smaller tanks that are on other makes ( I drink a lot of tea and hot drinks in the day) its rapid boil it takes 50.4 seconds from pressing the button to the boiling and filling the cup (I timed it with a stop watch as my last kettle took 7 mins to boil ) it quiet and the water is boiling hot when its poured as the ones I've had in the past have not dispensed boiling water just under boiling but this is definitely boiling hot. It's easy to fill the tank at the top and the controls are nice and simple. Having the adjustable cup sizes is a real benefit as I tend to have large mugs of tea and my friends have a smaller brew. You also have the option of controlling you water if you want the hot cup to stop dispensing water just prest the X button on the top and it stops immediately so total control . I find it a perfectly safe way for me to use its recomend by my occupational therapist as people that struggle with heavy lifting of kettles or are unsteady with their hands or have any disability or issues this is the hot water dispenser for you honestly it's a life saver for me but also my friends like the style and functionality of my Breville hot cup they have got one now as well so its suitable for everyone stylish and practical works excellent and safe for people with disabilities or health issues I'm really happy with my purchase.I will update my review if I have any problems with my Breville hot cup as a believe in honest reviews to help people.

I bought another as a present - it's very good
This is the second one I have bought, it is so good. I've had a few different water dispensers over the last 8 years or so and this is one of the best. It is very simple and easy to clean. You fill with water and when you need a cuppa you just put the cup under turn the dial to the right amount then press the button. I didn't measure the amount of water I just guess, if you look at the dial it's full left for small coffee mug, 12 o'clock for normal mug and 2pm for large mug. I find this ok. If you think it will be too much you just press the stop button anyway so until you get used to your cups and mugs it is quite easy. I have the cup holder in the high position so that it doesn't splash too much.I would highly recommend.

Brita VKT111 plastic tasting water.
Well it arrived yesterday. Very excited to use it. Oh dear there is a horrible plastic taste to the water. We have flushed it through 6 times and still getting the horrible taste.Today I flushed it through a further 4 times and the taste is still there.Have contacted Breville to ask their advice. If nothing can be done then will have to send it back. The tea and coffee taste dreadful. It’s such a shame as it seemed a very good product. If anyone can provide me with a way to get rid of the taste I would be very grateful.

Variable cup size doesn't work. Two faulty hotcups same fault now. Buy a kettle!
I love the idea of this product but in practice it is rubbish. I have now had two of these and they have both suffered the same issue. When you first get the hotcup you use a dial to set your cup size. On high you get out about a pint of hot water and on low you get out enough for a small espresso cup. Works brilliantly and after a couple of attempts you get to your perfect amount of water dispensed in to your cup. However with both of the ones I have used after about a month of use the dial reduces the maximum amount of water dispensed to a small cup and you can never increase the amount again to a full cup of hot water. This doubles the time to make a hot drink and you also have to stand watching the hotcup in case it fills your cup to overflow. When new it does seem to save energy but after careful inspection it does always boil all the water contained and only pumps out the required amount so if you fill it up there are zero energy savings against a normal kettle. If fact it makes energy saving more difficult than a normal kettle as I have to use a jug to fill the hotcup instead of regulating the amount I put in from my tap with a normal kettle. As aforementioned this product promises much and when brand new it works ok but after returning one already and now it's replacement having the same fault I think I should have purchased a kettle for less money instead. Not impressed at all. Only buy for someone who likes half a hotcup of whatever they drink for us full cup hero's go buy a kettle.

Obvious manufacturing fault that breville refuse to accept or correct
I’ve had three of these so far and every one of them has had the same fault that accurate around the 3-6 month mark. The machine first stops releasing the right amount of hot water. On the highest setting it should fill my medium sized cups but after a few months of use it only fills it a third of the way. The fault then gets worse. It sometimes releases no water and eventually it just hisses a little steam out and button won’t stay down once pressed. This has happened with 3 different machines. I’ve contacted breville who say it needs cleaning so even though I live in a soft water area I did what they suggested to just so I could eliminate that as a problem, it didn’t change anything. Hey refused to do anything about it and said I should contact the retailer who have changed it every time but the problem doesn’t lie with the retailer it’s an obvious manufacturing fault. I’ve been on forums about this and it’s a really common fault. There are hundreds of people saying the same thing about this model and also saying that breville won’t accept responsibility for it. I wouldn’t bother purchasing this. You will without a doubt have to return it over and over. It’s a shame because it has a sleek design and it’s a great concept but it just doesn’t work.
