Madonna and Child The medieval Italian word Madonna is a term given to a noble woman, an important woman and also is used in reference to the Virgin Mary. This spirit being began with the intention of creating the Goddess of Fertility and then eventually somehow morphed into what reminds me of the Madonna and Child art seen all through Europe in old cathedrals. This piece has no denomination as she represents the Divine Mother in all beliefs, giving unconditional love to her child. This Nature Spirit Doll was created with recycled sticks, cotton batting, up-cycled fabric, glass beads and semiprecious stones. The faces were hand sculpted with eco-friendly paper clay. This clay takes days to dry before it was then painted gold. Moss was used as hair. Her crown was handcrafted by crocheting bronze non-tarnish wire with fresh water pearls and copper glass beads. Her dress is hand-stitched from gorgeous pink silk fabric with a touch of blue and peach hues. Her robe is ivory with pink brocade flowers. Iridescent tiny glass beads were sewn on and around the robe to reflect light. Her robe and dress are adorned with glass beads, sea shell discs, rose quartz, the semiprecious stone of love and fluorite, a stone used for healing. Pearls, one of the most feminine semiprecious stones symbolize yin, the ocean and the Divine Mother in all of us. She measures about 10.25 inches tall. She stands in a green mossy garden that has a tiny pool of reflected water created with glass and crystal beads. Make a wish or say a prayer when you place her on your alter or sacred space. This is a one of a kind piece. Please handle with care as she is not a toy. Please do not keep around children or pets. Handmade by jeanie mossa at The Planet Calamari Studio in the USA.
