Q: Will this work with a 26 quart mop bucket?

If it's a metal bucket, it will work no problem. If it's a plastic bucket, it depends how thick the sides are. This is a heavy wringer unit, weighing almost 15 pounds so it will collapse a thin mop bucket it no time.

Q: How wide is the opening to hang on the bucket? Wondering if it will fit on a large rubbermaid bucket.

I can confirm it fits a Home Depot Homer bucket quite well.

Q: does this fit a 5 gallon bucket

It will fit in a 5 gallon bucket but deforms it slightly. It is easy to activate the wringer and will not be a problem however the wringer is quite large and heavy and you will not be able to move the bucket by the handle due to the wringer being in the way.

Q: Can you adjust it to wring out more water?

It is not adjustable. However, since I use this to wring out clothes, I readjust the clothes to make the pile thicker.
