I drink a lot of tea. My mom still jokes saying: "you keep Teavana in business". So, Until recently I've always purchased my loose leaf tea At Teavana whenever I found myself at the mall. I've been a long time(15yrs+) Amazon customer, I mean, I order at least $2-3,000/Month of goods through Amazon Prime. I don't know why, until just recently(within last 3 weeks) that I could buy Tea cheaper & better selection on Amazon. *Up until I came across this masterpiece of an invention, I was using the typical 16oz steepers. The GOURMIA ELECTRIC SQUARE TEA MAKER is a must have, for a tea lover! It looks very "cool" in my kitchen and I love how quick, easy, and overall ...I COULDNT LOVE IT MORE. IT'S MAKES TEA PERFECT, HAS SETTINGS(depending for example whether you're making black tea, white tea, etc.). CEAN UP(I wouldn't call it clean up it so simple). THE TEA DOES TASTE BETTER TOO! BEFORE I WAS JUST USING NEAR BOILING WATER ACCROS THE BOARD FOR MY TEAS, THIS STEEPS THE TEA AT JUST THE RIGHT TEMP. , I AM AMUSING THAT IS WHATS MADE SUCH HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE TEA FLAVOR.If you enjoy loose leaf teas, get this Gourmia Tea Maker, the worst thing that can happen is you return it(Amazon's amazing return policy)But, you won't, you'll love it and keep it. I already own a Breville Tea Maker as well as a Brewista. They are both very good, but I wanted something for my office that made loose leaf tea in smaller batches. The Gourmia GTC8000B was the only one that met my criteria of being electric and having a fine mesh strainer.Out of the box, I wasn't sure about it, as the cord looked damaged at first. It just happened to have some white stuff on it that flaked off. The cord is also very short, even for an appliance like this. The box has suction cups to keep the unit in place. This works very well on my glass desk, but I can also see this being a pain if you constantly have to pick the box up to refill it in the sink. For mine, I just use keep a jug of spring water nearby for easy filling. There is a slight rattling sound at times when the carafe is in place when I am working at my desk, but it is not a big deal. Both the top part where the hot water/tea gets filtered and the carafe are glass. The filter is stainless steel. The mesh is very fine, making it wonderful for honeybush and rooibos teas. I actually wish the Breville would update their strainer with finer holes.My first little pot of tea was okay but had a funny taste. I attributed this to the machine being new, but it turned out that the tea itself was the culprit. I brewed a delicate green tea afterward which tasted fine. There is no "keep warm" function on this unit, which is forgivable in my option since it only makes a small amount of tea. It brews about 8 ounces (250ml) at a time. Because it only does one cup at a time, I have to run it twice to get the desired amount. This is something that could be improved, but pressing the button twice is not that much of an effort. The water heats up very quickly and tea is ready in no time.The settings are light, medium, and dark. I would have preferred the traditional herbal, black, green, etc settings, but the manual that comes with the Gourmia GTC8000B is very helpful in guiding to which setting is correct for your favorite type of tea. Making a small pot of tea is easy. Once the unit is filled with water, just choose your tea to go into the strainer, then press Refresh. Discard that liquid and put the carafe back. From there, choose your preferred setting. You can steep some types of tea a few times. You can also use tagless bagged tea for this machine, but loose tea is more ideal. I do agree with the other reviewer that black tea is tricky and often comes out bitter. I would use less and only then use the light setting. The unit has a little button to ensure that the carafe is in place. You could probably use your own cup to fill with tea, as long as it wasn't too tall and you sat it on the little button.Although everything needs to be hand washed, clean up is still very easy. The box itself can be wiped down with a damp cloth. The water bin needs to be descaled from time to time.I really like this tea maker more than I thought I would. For the price, it could use some improvements, but overall the unit is fast, functional, and easy to use.

This tea brewer/maker is absolutely fantastic. I have used it 2 times so far and it's been amazingly easy and dare I say fun. Im a huge black tea drinker and per the instruction I use the strong setting. The tea comes out great, hot, but not boiling hot. I've been using just a standard electric kettle for a while now but the water always comes out so hot that it in turn almost takes away the flavor of the tea. I give this maker a thumbs up for sure. Great packaging, easy instructions, quick, and nice build quality!

I currently make tea by heating water (2 minutes in the microwave), adding loose tea, letting it steep (4 minutes) and lastly removing the loose tea. It's a simple process but I need to be present for each part. There's no way to just hit go and walk away while all of this happens. This is what led me to this machine.I bought this hoping to place water and tea into it, push a button, walk away, return a few minutes later and have a cup (or more) of tea waiting.The device heats about 1 cup of water, fills a steeping container, waits about 10 seconds and then drains the steeping container into the pot.Why only fill half the pot? Why not an option to fill the entire pot? There's enough water capacity in the device to fill the pot two times over but no setting. If I only wanted one cup of tea there are hundreds of steeping devices that I can just plunk in a cup ...Why only steep for 10 seconds (the "strong" setting, other settings are less)? Black tea is a 4 minute steep ... give or take for personal preference ... green 3 minutes.I contacted support over this and was greeted by a person who didn't know the device's normal operation and had to submit a request for someone to call or email me back. An email confirmed that 1 cup and 10 seconds are normal. I'm returning the device.Hmm ... perhaps it would make a good cup of hot coco from a powdered mix?

It's convenient and easy to use that we drink more tea than before. I am an exquisite tea drinker using only high quality leaves from Darjeeling and I find the tea good as I will do it manually.Highly recommended for this excellent price. Also it is very elegant and modern. Fits well in contemporary design.

Company video says you can adjust temperature of water, you can’t. Check capacity closely of teapot and reservoir, it’s very limited. When I received my unit, the top to the electronic controls was not secured, it has come loose since. Also, the unit I received was previously used and repackaged despite the fact I paid for a new unit. Not satisfied with product or seller.
