Q: is this just like shrink wrap?

Yeah, just like saran wrap and it did not hold for me. It was kind of expensive too. Get saran from the supermarket or a big roll from Costco.

Q: How long is this roll? And is the wrap 15" wide?

The roll is very long..exact length is not known to me, but i wrapped my pool 4 times around (20 ft pool), wrapped two outside AC units, and still have enough to wrap the pool again this year. Yes, it is 15 inches wide.
