Won't know for s long while.

I mixed my own blend of bourbons and let it sit for 3 weeks. I used an immature bourbon that was lacking taste, and blended it with various brands that had particular flavor profiles I was looking to combine. I originally planned on letting it sit for 3 months (which with this size barrel is equivalent to 1 year in a traditional barrel at a distillery) but I poured my first glass at 3 weeks and it turned out better than expected. What I poured in was a light colored bourbon with only slight taste, and what I poured in my glass 3 weeks later was a dark bourbon with nice oak flavors. I can't get over how good this actually tastes! I plan on buying more of these barrels in the future. I'd like to smoke the inside with hickory to add a nice smokey taste to my favorite whiskey, and my wife wants her own barrel to blend her favorite whiskey after soaking the barrel with port wine. I absolutely love my new barrel and I've found a new hobby! If you are on the fence about buying one of these, I can't emphasize how much I've enjoyed using this barrel!

Over rated and over priced. Was received in good time but not in good shape. Spigot is broken but not unfunctional. Some wood was splintered and broken from underside of valve. Have not made an effort to use this product as the barrel staves have noticeable and somewhat disturbing gaps between them. Hope it seals as stated. There are dents in the wood as if struck with hammer or dropped a few times. The engraving is about the only thing that I do like about this product. A much better and more realistic price for this questionable product would be more in the range of $45-$50. Not worth $70. It is only a novelty item and an expensive one at that. 12/15/18. Up dating my review to four stars. Filled barrel with water and submerged barrel in five gallon pale of water in order to rehydrate wood, Using this method takes about one day until barrel seals. unfortunately this will also wash off the gloss coat finish of barrel. I rather like this as it gives the barrel a more natural dull oak finish. After rehydrating wood I filled barrel with corn whiskey. At the three month mark I have sampled some mighty fine golden liquid. Not a bad product after all.

Two items; 1) The lettering is not flat with the hole on top (which I put up with). 2) I seasoned the barrel like it instructed, but it is leaking and the bottom bands are rusting and the wood is rotting. Is it only for show or can you put burban in it???

I ordered two of the 2 liter barrels and had them custom engraved. I was so anxious to get them that I ordered them without realizing that we would not be home to receive them because of a two week vacation. I contacted the seller and they were very responsive and arranged for the shipment to arrive at the end of our vacation. The customized engraving came out perfectly and makes the barrel look so professional and fabulous! It's the perfect size for sitting on our countertop, and even though I expected them to be small, 2 liters is quite a lot of liquor, if you think about it. It came with very clear instructions on pre-soaking it to swell up the wood and stop any leaks. Of course it did leak, but by the second day, one had stopped and the other one stopped shortly after I soaked the outside for about a half hour in the sink. I'm soaking them in the hot water right now and the smell is heavenly, so sweet and toasty. I can't wait to fill them with some hooch!

So far, so good. I read a lot of reviews on the barrel leaking. Followed the directions and it's not...:) Mixed up a batch and wr are going to taste it next month.

This is a great purchase and will definitely be a returning customer!I bought the 2 liter barrel and it works perfectly. I've been aging whiskey ever since and it's outstanding how much better a whiskey can get after a couple months in the barrel.Prepping the barrel was very easy and cleaning it out was a breeze. All it took was some time repeatedly filling it up with water and letting it wash out. Once wood stops coming out of the barrel you know you've thoroughly emptied any leftover wood scraps. Furthermore, after filling up the barrel with water all day to let it soak in, and a second batch of hot water to leave in overnight, the barrel sealed. Hot water does a quicker job at expanding the wood.Also, the personalization looks great and gives the barrel that much more character. There are no engraving errors and the workmanship is of quality.I proudly show it to all my friends and everyone that comes over to drink loves it!
