Use MIne All The TIme, Made In USA, Going Strong Almost 10 Years On Giving Delicious Results!
I am very pleased with my Nordic Ware steamer. This and my Nordic Ware Rice cooker are my constant microwave companions. I've had mine for almost 10 years and it's still functioning perfectly albeit with some minor visible wear and staining.I use mine for veggies mostly and occasionally for steaming a salmon or cod fillet. Nothing does asparagus better than this steamer. Other steamers I've used didn't have a proper lid vent and would "pop their top" when pressure built up. That's a thoughtful feature. One thing I like and find amusing given the brand is Nordic Wear is this item is made in the USA. Buying US made products helps me feel a bit virtuous.I love my Nordic Ware microwave cooking containers: this steamer and my Nordic Wear microwave rice cooker. Both are almost 10 years old and still going strong. Nordic Ware has done a great job with the design of this steamer and it has lasted a long time. If that's not 5 stars I'm not sure what is.

Easy, excellent, sturdy!
This is our second one of these, because we loved our original one so much! We used the first one for at least 10 years, and maybe longer. Might have been more like 15 years. I had even dropped our original one at one point and chipped a small piece of the lip on the bottom part but it still worked great though for many years.Recently it fell out of the cabinet and landed just right to break the bottom part completely. I was so happy to have been able to find it again, because we use this steamer at least once a week! This is identical to our originated one and I'm certain we'll last us at least another 10-15 years like the first one did.

Not very impressed with this steamer
I try to do things with as little effort as possible, so I got tired of cleaning small food particles from the folding, metal steamers that are made for use in a pan on the stove top. I steam small frozen vegetables (corn, peas, carrot cubes, etc.) quite often. I started looking for a way to steam frozen vegetables with easier clean-up, and came to believe that the available microwave steamers would be a better way to go. (I have found that microwave steaming also leads to better flavors than stove-top steaming.)Recently I bought both the Nordic Ware microwave steamer ( Nordic Ware Microwave Vegetable and Seafood Steamer 11 Inch by 8.6 Inch ) and the Progressive International microwave steamer ( Progressive International Microwavable Fish & Veggie Steamer ). I've used the Progressive steamer maybe 5 times, and I've been quite happy with it: it is easy to steam small vegetables and clean-up is easy. It could be a little sturdier, but it is OK. Tonight, I used the Nordic Ware steamer for the first time, and I found steaming small vegetables to be more difficult, primarily because there is no lip around the edges of the steaming tray, which allows small vegetables to easily spill off of the tray. They spill off of the tray as I'm loading it with vegetables, and spill-off of the tray as I'm transferring the vegetables from the tray to a serving dish. Clean-up is still pretty easy, though not quite as easy as with the Progressive steamer. The base of the Nordic Ware steamer seems a little sturdier than that of the Progressive Steamer, but the Nordic Ware's lid is somewhat flimsy. I suspect that the Progressive steamer will last longer than the Nordic Ware steamer. (I hand wash my vegetable steamers; both steamers may be OK for use in the top rack of a dishwasher.)For steaming large vegetables and/or fish, which I don't do, the Nordic Ware steamer might be better because steam might circulate better around the edges of the tray when a bunch of the holes are covered, although I have little certainty about this.

Nice large size for a steamer
Already have a small steamer which is great for my husband and I, but needed a larger one for when family visits. This one works perfectly for steaming veggies and is big enough so that I can prepare enough for everyone, yet it still fits in a standard sized microwave. The lid is about 3 inches deep, so you can load it with plenty of veggies and they all cook consistently steamed. It washes easily. It is long enough to steam about 2 fish fillets at a time, maybe more if they are small. My husband pulled the steamer section out and used it to store and serve about a dozen deviled eggs, so it can be used for more purposes than strictly a steamer.

Works great!!
I love this! I have to process my frozen broccoli twice because I like it a little better done than the instructions do it. But, after I process twice with the 'steam' setting on my microwave, it does an awesome job, and my broccoli and cauliflower are so much better when they aren't soggy from being cooked in water. If you cook a lot of broccoli and cauliflower like I do, this is a must. Easy to use, store, and clean up. Did I say that I love it?

Cookware built for Nords, but strong enough for couch potatos.
While I'm not technically a Nordic person, I've seen there ski simulation Track machines on late night infomercials, so I feel capable of evaluating this Ware. With the aid of an obedient microwave and water, you can indeed steam vegetables and seafood. The grill like ridges on the base mean your food need not actually sit in a puddle while steaming. This is the opposite of a rain burst at the beach, where everyone flees the immersion in salt ocean to avoid the tiny fresh water rain drops.I got this with a Pastafarian religion based pasta cooker, to let me cook pasta fasta'. In retrospect, one microwaveable container would have been enough as you can use that with a little water and a spray bottle to occupy less of your kitchen space.

Nordic Steamer
This product is wonderful. I'm dieting and have used it to steam Talpia fish and chicken breasts. They cook tender and fast, both fish for 4 to 5 minutes and the chicken breast sliced in half, 6 minutes. At first I didn't think the lid was fitting properly and couldn't get it to seal. The trick is to place the lid on the tray, then press in the center of the lid, the sides snap down then. I would recommend this to everyone, even if your not dieting. It cooks fast and cleans easily. I give it a 10+

Super easy to clean
Owned one in the past and bought his to replace the old one that didn't make it across a continental move. Super easy to clean, and spacious enough to steam food for 2 people in short order in the micowave. One of my favorite go to items in the kitchen.

I had a microwave steamer that I used for years and love but then found out that it was made of bad plastic! So I picked this one up to replace it. I feel safe using this one as the plastics are better. The only issue I have with this steamer is more prominent handles would be nice. It can be tricky to remove from a microwave without burning yourself. It cooks evenly and is a nice size.
