Well written, excellent photographs
This series is wonderful. The photographs depict everday life during the time period of the pilgrims, and period vocabulary is introduced, with a glossary in the back. Kate Waters (author) & Russ Kendall(photographer) follow a Samuel Eaten's activities for one day. The setting, clothing, etc. is authentic and helps students (and adults) visualize what life was like during that time. I have used this series many times with my students, and I think it is one of the best resources for teaching Elementary age students about this time period.

Historically Accurate and educational.
Love this book! Lots of great accurate pictures, so I was able to use it with my preschoolers to give them an idea of how children dressed and lived so long ago.

Interesting story and detailed photos
I bought this book along with Sarah Morton's Day. I read Sarah Morton's Day and felt that it was a little too long and complex for the age group I was planning on reading this to (1st grade). Perhaps reading certain "parts" to children around Thanksgiving would be best if they are young. I planned on returning this one since I did not read it to my class yet and b/c Sarah Morton's Day was a little too complex, but Amazon gave me a refund and said to keep the book anyway, so hopefully I can use it in the future!

Way overpriced for a very thin children's book
Yes it's hardcover, but why not a cheaper version?

Good children's historical book
As a teacher I use this book every November. I like that it simply tells about a typical day for a pilgrim child. It has some historical references to things like clothing and what they were called. The kids like this book year after year.

Samuel Eaton's Day
Excellent small book with lots of pictures for parents or teacher's if they want to show their children how life was in those times, Samuel Eaton is 7yrs old, the date is July 16th, 1627, his family had arrived on the Mayflower when he was a baby, they now lived in Plimoth Plantation.Samuel's father was a carpenter but everyone helped with the harvest, this was to be Samuel's first day to be old enough to help his father. All children up to the age of 7yrs wore dress's in those times so you could understand how it was for Samuel to wear trouser's for the first time.Roger Burns the boy in the photos who played Samuel is a direct descendant of the people who travelled in the Mayflower.
