Never knew I needed one of these till I got one
I'm using one of these (BenQ Halo) with an ASUS 43" curved ultrawide monitor. Initial impressions are extremely good. This looks and feels like a quality product. Very nicely packaged and easy to fit. There's an included spacer for a curved monitor, which I am using. If the lamp flashes it means there's not enough power being supplied by whatever USB port it's plugged into. It's not faulty. I have it plugged into a mains USB adapter and it works perfectly. The rear light is a nice touch and works well. Not sure at all about people saying they turn it on by waving a hand. The instructions say 'Tap the Power button to turn on the lamp' so this might explain why folk are having trouble with trying to turn it on without touching it. Someone said it wasn't bright enough. Seriously? I have it on a low setting and it's perfect. The remote control is heavy, which as a rule of thumb I tend to think means it's well made. This lamp reduces eyestrain very well and there is not a trace of glare or reflections on the screen. I didn't need the included pad for slim monitors. It sits securely on my monitor. I went for the optional webcam attachment bracket. To my surprise this is worth the money and works very well. If you want to use a webcam with this lightbar do get the webcam bracket also. It's not cheap but better than precariously balancing the webcam on top of the lightbar. I would recommend this lightbar without reservation.

High quality monitor light, which performs flawlessly
Not the cheapest monitor light which you're going to find, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I thought the rear facing light was a bit of a gimmick to begin with, but I've found that it really helps to prevent eye strain throughout the day. The downward-facing light illuminates the keyboard and desk area perfectly, and when sitting (or standing) correctly, you shouldn't be able to see any LEDs directly. The remote control looks extremely smart, and allows for easily changing modes, adjusting the brightness and colour temperature between cold and warm white. Normally I hide buttons and switches where possible, but on this occasion it looks very stylish so I'm happy for it to sit on the desk. Finally, attaching an external webcam to the lightbar is very straightforward, however depending on the make/model of webcam, you might need to purchase an adapter to bridge the gap.

Really helped my eyestrain
It's a great product that does exactly what it's meant to - light up your desk and back wall to reduce eye strain. It's an expensive product for what it is - there's no denying that. The backlight is less bright than I was expecting and yes, the touch-sensitive buttons do take some getting used to. That being said the auto-dimming feature works really well. The backlight makes a big difference and means you don't have to buy a secondary light for bias lighting. I now have it on most of the day and don't even notice it's on, but as soon as you turn it off the difference is stark! Quality is excellent. Looks great. Remote has a solid feel (although would probably have preferred physical buttons)If you can afford it and also need bias lighting just buy it

Pleasantly Surprised
It's just a light that goes on your monitorWas a bit apprehensive about spending this kind of money on what is quite a simple device. So happy to report that it has been one of the best purchase I've made for my computer setup. I'm in my fourth month of usage and it gets used most days. So pleased with the purchase that I bought a 2nd one for my son.I love that you can alter the colour temp of the light. The device gives out a good amount of light and my desk is well lit without losing any desk space. The control puck take a little getting used to in terms of the various controls that it has on it and where to position your hand. But with a bit of practice all is fine. I've not experienced any issues in terms of the time it takes to react to commands.Setup is easy. Mine is used in conjunction with a curved monitor. Not all monitor lights sit well on those type of screens.I don't use the backlight much as I have a separate Philips hue Play light mounted on the back of my monitor. When the backlight is used it does dim the front light slightly. I would say that the backlight is most effective when your monitor is relatively close to your wall which isn't the case for me.

So good you forget it’s there
This thing is expensive, for sure. But I have no regrets buying it. I’ve been using it for about two months now. It’s been wintertime, so there’s not a lot of daylight hours, and sometimes, on dull days, I’ll have it on all day long. There’s a great auto feature which will match the colour tone and brightness of the ambient light. And a memory mode, which I have set to warm and low, that I use once it’s dark outside. When using this light, it’s easy to forget you are sitting in a dark room unless you look away from your desk.I like the back light because it provides an ambient light behind the screen which seems to reduce the eye strain of looking at a bright screen in a dark room.
