I've been trying to cut down utility costs and I hate running my old and loud heater at night. An electric blanket seemed like a good alternative so I went with Sunbeam because it is a semi-reputable brand for the sake of safety. Sunbeam isn't Sunbeam anymore, but they haven't tanked their reputation with poor quality goods yet so they are still in the tail end of enjoying their brand's name and making decent products.The blanket is super easy to use. The controller lets you set the temperature and how many hours you want it left on for. The wiring is very robust and the blanket is well made with no loose stitching or any other issues. It's very soft and comfortable. The only hard part is the cable coming out of the side and you'll really never notice it.I'd say the bulk of the blanket stays warm except for maybe 6 inches around the edges. I have a thermal camera and could see that the wires zig zagged right within that region when the heat was cranked up so that seemed to line up with what I could feel. Seems fine to me, the bulk of it is very warm and that's all I needed.You do need to be careful with an electric blanket; don't sharply crease or fold it, don't get it wet, don't get it dirty as you don't want to wash it too often. I usually put it on top over everything else and can still stay very warm.It's worked consistently and I've never had any issues with it. Plus I don't have to waste money to run my air heater anymore. I usually run it for an hour before bed and an hour in the morning and that's it, yet I can still sleep very warmly and comfortably. So this ended up being exactly what I needed.

I recently purchased a heated throw from Costco on a whim. I am notoriously cold and have worsening arthritis. I had planned to use it as a throw for my chair in the livingroon to give myself some extra warmth on chilly days. It is ultra soft and super warm, so I decided to try it between my sheet and blanket on my side of the bed. My husband is a hot box and does not require extra help with keeping warm. Must be nice! Anyway, I absolutely loved it, but it just wasn't big enough and was so soft and silky that it would just side all over the place. It also was really warm even on low and the heating was very uneven. Just fine for a throw, but not great for a good night's rest. So I decided tp get a queen size electric blanket for bed. What I was looking for was one that had two independent heating controls, so my husband could use his side as just a blanket if he wanted. I also wanted a quality blanket that could be used for years. I wanted good even heat throughout the blanket without hot or cold spots and a good soft material that would not be too soft as to slip and slide all over the bed. I first purchased a Westinghouse electric blanket with sherpa. As soon as I pulled it out, I could see that the quality was lacking as the wires were visible through the sherpa and it was definitely not likely to last. After packaging it back up and returning it, I resumed my research. One thing you need to realize is that your blanket should be sandwiched between your top sheet and a quilt, blanket or bedspread. Therefore, a silky soft touch is not only unnecessary, it can keep it from staying put. I found this blanket and hoped that it would be better than the Westinghouse. I did not disappoint.This blanket meets all of my requirements to a tee. Two separate controls for each side of the bed. Plenty of cord length to run under the bottom of the bed and plug into the wall and enough controller cord length to comfortably nestle in the side of the bed frame or place on the nightstand. Wnderful even heating all night long. It doesn't get too warm and there are no cold or hot spots at all. The material is high quality and should last for years. It is also soft, but not slippery so it stays put all night long. The controls have plenty of options for heat temperature and automatic shut off timer. The color was even perfect, I chose blue. There are plenty of blankets out there for more or less money. But the price of this blanket was very fair and worth every penny. If you are struggling to find your perfect blanket, you search is over!

I scoured reviews of blanket after blanket and they were all the same including this one. Glowing reviews telling how they were the greatest thing on God’s green earth and negative reviews saying how they came apart, stopped heating, shriveled up or otherwise suffered some sort of untimely death. I decided to just pick the blanket with the simplest controller and this is the one I chose.There is a slight chemical odor when opening the package which I would have preferred to smell like strawberry ice cream, but it quickly dissipates.The blanket is thin and I’m fine with that. It means it will be a good summer blanket too. If you feel the blanket, you can feel the wires, but isn’t that the case with all electric blankets? It’s been the case with all electric blankets I have owned. I've had blankets where it felt like I was sleeping under a chain link fence. Somehow, I don’t notice the wires in this blanket when I go to bed, but of course I have a sheet between me and the blanket.There is no preheat feature, but I didn’t want one. Why would you need that. Just turn your blanket on and it heats up. This blanket gets very warm very fast. Admittedly, I didn’t go through and patiently try the different settings to see how much difference each setting would have, but I’m not looking for precision heat. I just crank it up to ten before going to bed and lower it to four or five when I go to bed and this system works for me. If you want to lose weight just leave it on ten all night. You'll wake up in a sweat and ten pounds lighter.If I had and issue it would be the controllers - two because I bought a queen. They are not exactly what I expected to get. One picture shows a little window in the dial with a number showing in the window. The controllers I got look the same minus the window. Instead the dial has an arrow painted on it which points to the numbers one through ten painted on the controller. A new picture, which I believe was added since I made my purchase, only shows up if you select the queen blanket in the mushroom color, (I really like the color), shows the controllers I got. All the other colors and sizes only show the controller with the window. Do the different size and color blankets actually have different controllers? Did I get old style controllers or a newer design? Are they eliminating the window to save three cents? Again, only the queen mushroom blanket shows the controller minus the window, but also shows the controller with the window. It in no way affects the operation of the blanket. I just don’t like ordering one thing and getting something that looks different. I like getting exactly what I ordered. If there had been completely different controllers I likely would have returned the blanket since the controller design is the reason I chose this blanket, but I can live without the little window.I really like that the controllers are so simple even though they are a little clunky sitting on the nightstand. I’ll likely end up fastening them down with Velcro or double stick tape or maybe hang them on hooks so the weight of the power cord isn’t able to pull them down to the floor. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of controllers out there made to properly sit and remain on your nightstand. Are you listening design engineers? With these controllers you just press a button to turn it on and twist the dial to the setting you want and your done. Very quickly the blanket is nice and toasty. I like being able to quickly twist that dial to the setting I want rather than having to press a button to cycle through the settings. The blanket will shut off automatically after ten hours or you can hit the button to turn it off.So far I’m pleased with the blanket. It’s simple to operate, provides good evenly distributed heat and there is only one electrical connection at the foot of the blanket. That electrical connection is at most only six inches from the foot of the blanket which means it’s out of the way and your feet aren’t feeling it. No doubt if it falls apart, stops heating or shrivels up it will be on the coldest night in the coming winter, but that’s what girlfriends are for. So far I’m warm and happy – in more ways than one.

A very soft and light blanket, very easy to use, and efficient. Even during a very cold night, it keeps us warm in few seconds.

If I can send this back I’d like to, it’s not come with a UK plug end, I think it might be a US plug end, there’s no adapters for it, therefore rendering it useless, which wasn’t made clear on purchase. Please take it back

Really happy with my choice of a Sunbeam electric blanket. I read numerous electric blanket online reviews and decided on Sunbeam as they are a trusted name in electrical appliances as well as being very affordable too. The blanket was delivered ahead of schedule much to our delight (in time for the cold weather). The material is soft to touch and the colour is true to it's online description and photo. It fits our king size bed comfortably with enough width to drape over both sides of our bed. We pop the blanket on to warm about 5-10 mins before we hop in bed. There are adjustable temperatures depending on how cold you are and how warm you want your bed to be. We love the dual controls as my hubby turns in earlier than I do. He hated me waking him up with my cold hands and feet when I came to bed .. oh the joys of married life ha ha : ) ( : We both love our electric blanket we really do and agree it's the best item we've bought for our home and comfort in a long time. It's the little luxuries in life that keep you happy .. not to mention toasty warm when you really need it. Thank you Sunbeam, we're glad we took advantage of your promotional pricing too. Heated blanket was what I was hoping for. Soft material. The settings are great. I ordered a twin size and blanket covers the top of my queen size bed. Very pleased with this product.

For nearly twenty five years I have had a Sunbeam electric blanket mainly because I cannot abide getting into a cold bed. Sunbeam was the first one I bought and I have never looked back. Well made, soft, works perfectly and long lasting. My latest purchase again did not let me down. Just love it. I highly recommend this item.Michèle Zito
