These worked great and were a lot easier to use. Recommended for less advanced players.

GREAT!!! I needed some new ones for my daughter. My husband had a clarinet from high school and now that my daughter was finally old enough to join band at her elementary school we needed to replace the reed. The reed works really well. It sounded really bad wen she first tried to play it but now that we replaced the reed it sounds really good!

I figured I'd picked the 1.0 over the 1.5 because I am just starting out. I have Rico 2.0's and wanted to play a little quieter and easier. The Rico 2.0's require a bit more breath than the 1.0's. However, I quickly found out play the entire range of notes is just too technical for the Royal 1.0's. The quality of these is absolutely awesome, but playing the higher notes is just too hard. I have to adjust the angle or move my mouth position to play the higher notes. The Rico 2.0's I just blow the same way for every note, sometimes harder or softer but nothing requiring me to adjust the angle or position.I think for a beginner this isn't an idea strength to start with if you want to play the full range of the clarinet. Maybe go for the 1.5's instead.

I play Romanian music, with very open MPC and soft reeds. These reeds work very well for that kind of sound. A good alternative to taking 1.5 reeds and shaving them down myself.
