Great product for the money!
I purchased a Walther PPQ Q5 9mm Match which includes mounting plates for Trijicon, Docter, and Leupold. Now, just conduct a price check on red dot sights made by these manufacturers and you will discover, to your dismay, that the price range is ludicrous. Checked with another source before purchasing Vortex Venom and I am thoroughly pleased. For the money, it is certainly when the better products. Having the battery source on top is an advantage. Also if the "on" button is activated properly as depicted in the directions, then the brightness level is adaptive.

Correction...
Had to send it back. It came packaged well. Used the Outerimpact Red Dot Adapter to mount the Venom to my Ruger Mark III. It looked great on the gun, When to site Venom and quickly realized i has a problem. I had a target out at 40 ft. The Red Dot was high right. So I began the adjust the Dot to the left and ran out of adjustment, but it appeared to be close to center, so i continued. I started adjusting the Dot down and also ran out of adjustment, at 40 ft i was hitting 14 inches high... So that was very disappointing. I guess I am going to get to see how Amazon's Return Policy works. I really wanted this, but know I am skeptical to try this again.Well it was operator error... I put my bore site in the barrel of my Ruger and then corrected the Venom and it adjusted right to the bore site. Quickly stepped out of the shop and to a steady aim at a target about 30 feet away and hit within a inch of the Venom dot. So the site works, just need to dial it in a few more clicks while sitting at a bench resting on a bag. So glad... I've been wanting this site for a long time.

Great for older eyes.
Bought this for my Glock 34 MOS. I find that with getting older I cannot focus very well on gun sights and the target, so i decided to try out a red dot. It definitely helps. I had a couple of issues with the Venom first it did not include the proper length screws for my pistol, I sent an email to Vortex and they sent me the proper screws. After I got it installed I found it would not turn off and had to send it to Vortex. Vortex was very pleasant to work with and requested that I send the optic back to them.. It took about a week and I received a new one. It provides a much better site picture and definitely improved my scores. After getting it sighted and about 500 rounds it is holding sight very well.

Amazing accuracy, perfect Q5 "Match"
I mounted the Venom to a Walther Q5 Match polymer 9mm using one of the Walther included mounting plates and screws that came with the pistol. Very easy process. The Venom is very light, it did not affect the balance of the gun. I like that the battery compartment is easy to access from the top. I worried a little that I had to remove the rear sight of the Walther to do this because there would be no back up sighting mechanism should the battery die during use but there are two white vertical marks on the rear of the Venom and if aligned with the front sight, I could still hit center of mass w/o the red dot if I put the target in the center of the sighting window. That was a minor relief. The intensity of the red dot had to be at the higher settings on the bright sunny day when I was shooting. By the second magazine I was able to shoot quarter and nickel sized groups from a rest at 20 yards! The subsequent steel plates never stood a chance!! Shot maybe 125 rounds and no glitches/problems. I also really like the warranty that comes with the Venom should anything go wrong with the sight! I shoot for fun, not competition so I am very happy w/ the performance along with not having to pay top dollar.

Consistent quality and great warranty
This is my 3rd Vortex optic. I have a Viper on my EDC, a Venom on my Baretta 1301 (12ga), and this Venom, is for a long slide 10mm.These are stellar optics, that reliability hold zero! They are extremely reliable and have held up to rigors of concealed carry, and the heavy recoil of a 12ga. They are dead on, every time! Based on price, this optic is middle of the road, but it delivers high end performance.Aside from quality, their lifetime warranty is 100% legitimate! Last year, my shotgun (with Vortex Venom installed) fell off the bed of a truck. On the way down, it (the optic) bounced off the hitch, before landing directly on gravel. The glass shattered!! I called Vortex, told them exactly what I did, and asked for a repair quote. To my surprise, they replaced the optic at no charge, and went above and beyond to ship it asap. To me, that degree of customer service, is worth the price alone! You can't go wrong with Vortex products.
