Great sturdy little switch.

This is an unmanaged Ethernet switch for industrial installations. The device measures 4”x3.5”x1.5”. It has a fully metal case. On the front side are 8 Ethernet ports with individual indicator lights. On the back side is a rail mount. On the top is a power port with 5 pins that takes 12-48V input. Included with the device are a grounding cable and a cable with 2 pins.I like the feel of this switch—it feels very rugged and looks like a well built device. However, I can’t use it for the home installation that I had hoped for since I don’t have a clue how to supply it with power. This is definitely not a device for home users. No power supply is provided, or even any instructions how to hook this up to a power supply. Before ordering this device, take a good look at the product images. If you can recognize the power ports and how to connect them, then you are the right user for this device. If not, you need a different Ethernet switch, one that has an easy to use standard power supply or power cable. Overall, this device is rugged and durable but requires specialist power equipment for hooking it up.

This switch is meant for industrial situations where the environment isn't all that great for regular switches. In my case, it's the fact that my feed is out in the garage and is subject to the southern Florida heat/humidity. I didn't design the layout this way, it's just the way it is and I have to deal with it.While this is for home use, my wife and I both work online and my son goes to school online, so we use our internet connection all of the time. There is a constant flow so anything that can handle what we do, should be fine for anyone else's home use. And then some.

Product did not work with cat 7 cable. Tried two other gig e switches, both worked fine. Vendor claimed cat 7 is not a standard yet and I should replace May cane with cat 6. The cable is 80’ long buried in the ground... easier to return this and buy a tplink

Der Switch macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Die Qualität ist super und wenn er wirklich bis 75°C Umgebungstemperatur arbeitet, dann zeigt dies den beabsichtigten industriellen Einsatzzweck bereits deutlich. Ansonsten fällt sofort auf, dass hier keine gewöhnliche Spannungsversorgung vorhanden ist. Gespeist werden kann der Switch mit 12/24/36/48V Gleichstrom. Dabei ist ein Kabel mit zwei Litzen und DC-Jack Power Pigtail sowie ein Erdungskabel für den Verteiler-/Server-Schrank. Was mich etwas verwundert hat, es liegt nur ein DC-Anschlusskabel dabei. Wenn ich den Switch redundant betreiben möchte, was ja beabsichtigt ist, dann müsste ich mir ein zweites Kabel basteln. Da hätte von vornherein ein zweites Kabel beigelegt werden können. Der VK-Preis von knapp 80 Euro sollte es eigentlich möglich machen. Die RJ-45-Anschlüsse sind alle mit den bekannten grünen und gelben LEDs ausgestattet, wodurch die aktuelle Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit auch erkennbar ist. Die Geschwindigkeiten werden auch problemlos erreicht. Der Einbau des Switches erfolgt auf einer Hutschiene im Verteilerschrank und ist auch problemlos möglich. Ebenso auch das Herausnehmen. Die Spannungsversorgung erfolgt von unten, so dass kein Platz neben dem Switch verloren geht. Eine Befestigung an der Wand ist im übrigen auch möglich. Alles in allem ein schöner Switch, leider unmanaged. Generell kann ich eine Empfehlung geben.

La presentacion del dispositivo es bastante buena, en primer lugar recibiremos una caja de carton duro totalmente cerrada y sellada que debemos cortar una tira de carton tipo cremallera para poder abrirla. Dentro se encuentra en primer lugar las instrucciones selladas en una bolsita de plastico estanca, el switch WIWAV WDH-8GT-DC series y 2 pequeños cables de conexion.Los 2 pequeños cables que encontramos en la caja son el de tierra (amarillo y blanco) de calibre 16 AWG que ya se encuentra con sus terminales puestos para conectarlo a nuestra instalacion diferencial y el de conexion +- (rojo y negro, negro) para que usemos si queremos cualquier trasformador estandar de 12v, 24v, 36v o 48v. El transformador no esta incluido.Como vemos el switch o tambien llamado conmutador ethernet WIWAV WDH-8GT-DC series es metalico, de color negro, no tiene ningun tipo de boton y por un lado tenemos los 8 puertos ethernet RJ45 y sus luces de link/act y de funcionamiento, por el otro la regleta de conexion electrica y por detras el rail DIN o guias L para su montaje.Al tratarse de un switch industrial esta pensado para su montaje dentro de maquinaria, racks de servidores o cuadros de telecomunicaciones por lo que es importante destacar que no tiene un transformador para red electrica ya que estos cuadros de telecomunicaciones o racks ya tienen normalmente su propia instalacion electrica. Sin embargo el switch WIWAV WDH-8GT-DC series tiene una regleta de 5 puertos en su lateral para la conexion electrica.El switch admite diferentes voltajes de conexion 12v, 24v, 36v, y 48v entre sus 5 puertos de conexion. P1 +- (puertos 1 y 2) y P2 +- (puertos 4 y 5), el puerto 3 es el conector de masa.En mi caso e conectado 12v entre el +- del puerto P1 usando un transformador generico (no incluido con el switch) y la masa a la carcasa metalica de mi pequeño servidor casero.Por el otro lado disponemos de los metodos de instalacion, para cajas de telecomunicaciones usando el DIN rail o para la instalacion sobre la pared usando sus 2 guias de anclaje en forma de L.En este caso las instrucciones son unicamente en ingles pero no son apenas necesarias ya que se centran basicamente en la explicacion de seguridad de instalacion y el montaje sobre los ya mencionados DIN rail o anclaje en L sobre pared. Tambien explican las caracteristicas de todos los dispositivos industriales de la marca californiana WIWAV ya que son unas instrucciones genericas.Por lo demas este switch WIWAV WDH-8GT-DC series es plug and play, es autogestionado y no necesita ningun tipo de configuracion previa, tiene auto negociacion 10/100/1000mbps y es un switch industrial de maxima calidad posible.

Acquistato per inserirlo in una scatola di derivazione, l'ho alimentato con un trasformatore per strisce led ultrasottile da 12v e 6w. Funziona senza problemi da 2 mesi. Non scalda

Nice metal case, built in mounting flanges, starts up quick on power-on, good temperature specs, everything I hoped for in an industrial product.
