Ideal portable music stand
Although a little longer when folded than the "classic" metal folding stand, this is a big improvement on it. Very easy to adjust, very stable in use. The clamp screws have a solid thread. Other folding metal stands eventually fail through the clamp screw threads stripping, I've had one of these for some time and I can't see the threads ever being a problem. The extra length folded is because it has extra height unfolded, great for flautists and other standing "head up" instrumentalists. The three legs are sturdy and fold down, not up, so easier to deploy one handed. There's a good sized "shelf" with a ridge to stop the music slipping off. The bag is quite sturdy and has a shoulder strap so one less thing to carry in and out of the venue. All in all you can't go wrong, and it's cheap!

I pity my old stand
It looks like this was designed by a NASA engineer using the latest wind tunnel technology. It looks so much better and healthier than my old stand. I pity my old stand, I'll keep it for sentimental reasons and to help care for it in it's old age.The old all metal stand is currently sulking in the corner of a room, after years of being battered in coaches and tossed around in force 7 gales on the seas I have finally replaced it with a much fresher, younger and more modern model in the form of this stand.Bonus points for...1) I don't think the legs on this one will ever need re-straightening2) The bolts feel solid enough that they won't need extra grip3) It doesn't have butterfly wings that tie fingers in knots but rather sleek, smooth, colour coordinated moulded bolts.4) It won't eventually lean to one side so I won't develop neck strain trying to read music. It's light, comes supplied with a bag and I have to say the all black looks good compared to the old brass and steel effect of my old 70's two-tone stand. The bolts fasten well with little pressure required to hold music and a banner. The bag even has room for the stand plus the banner.

Good piece of design, well made and nicely packaged
This is a table top music stand that can be used for other things as well such as books or even art work as an easelIt is well made, easy to use and has several very useful features such as page keepers top and bottom. This stand folds up small into a neat canvas drawstring bag so can be carried around with ease. The product came well packaged and I have had no problems with it in the months since it came.Overall one of the best table top book/music stands out there.

A perfectly good product
The stands works well. I did slightly bend the top when it first arrived as I could not work out which way the pieces open out. You need to be careful and not force it where it does not want to go. Experienced musicians probably would not have this problem. However now it is up and working it is fine for my needs. It has various parts to lengthen and shorten the upright and the top tilts. There are clips to hold the music. It is heavier than I anticipated but the carry bag seems quite strong although I do not anticipate needing to carry it anywhere myself. A perfectly good product for the money.

Stagg music stand
I do not know what a top of the range stand would cost, but for £12 this stand is excellent value : I used to have one years ago but it got lost when we moved. I have started to play my guitar again, so i purchased this stand. I use it sitting down, so don't extend the top section, however the tripod legs can be widened to make it more stable if you used it standing up.I like the fact that your book pages can be held top and bottom.the adjusting nuts and fittings are all metal so should last ( plastic ones tend to quickly stripfolds down into a nice cloth bag if you need to move around with it .All in all a nice sturdy stand that i expect to last a long time for a good price.

Exactly what I expected
This is quite a nice music stand. Comes in a nice little bag, and was up in no time. I think it looks quite nice, coated in a matt black finish. You can't sit on it, obviously, but it didn't seem particularly flimsy to me, and it is veyr easy to adjust to the correct viewing angle thanks to the many adjustment points (which are easy to tighten with the screws). It comes with a couple of spare screws, as well. The page holders are quite strong, so they push individual sheets of paper through the frame, but they are effective on larger music books with stiff pages. Individual pages don't need any help to stay up, so I think the holders work exactly as they should. So, not heavy duty as it may be, it is certainly perfectly suited to a home use, and maybe reasonably careful frequent use on the move.I am happy with it, and am happy to recommend it.

Mouldy case
The stand is as you would expect and is perfectly good to use. I think you could easily bend some of the metal if you're rough, but no more so than any other music stands of this kind. So if you're looking for a cheap music stand then this is perfect. However...... the stand arrives inside its carry case as you would expect. But my carry case was covered in a kind of mound and really isn't on when you're buying a brand new product. So for that reason I have to leave a low rating for this product.

Stagg Music stand.
I have marked this down because when setting up for the first time, the top telescopic section came right out without any excess on my part.On inspection, the internal plastic locking components x 2 had not been inserted correctly into the top section.I fixed it, and the stand is performing OK now but I suspect in the wrong hands this will detach again (ie: over enthusiastic heightening!).The plastic locking screws on each telescopic section also look as if they could break prematurely. I'd expected slightly better build quality in these areas from Stagg......Time will tell, but my old all metal stand which we've had for years and which has been VERY well used, still feels more robust in this regard.Otherwise this stand is compact when folded, light and stable in use.The top section is well designed for securely holding sheet music, larger books or even an A4 folder.I'd probably go for a different model with more robust height adjusters if I were buying another......

Also Note 1+
