Amazon delivered the trap at 1:30 pm. By 3:30, I had the trap all set up in my attic. At 4:30, the squirrel was caught... it took only one hour! By 5:30, he was released onto a big oak tree in the woods, miles away from my house. This trap is a well built, well functioning, and well worth it's price.Tips:1. Wear gloves when handling trap as to not get human scent on it.2. Smear peanut butter onto a wood block and zip tie it to the back wall of the trap. The animal will leverage itself upon the trigger plate when it tugs at the block.3. Duct tape the bait end of the cage to avoid the animal taking the bait from outside the trap.4. Save the cardboard box the trap comes in and use it to enclose the trap while the animal is being transported to reduce it's stress.

This catcher comes completely assembled and ready to do it`s job of catching squirrels. It`s easy to set up and easy to release your catch in a area away from your home.

This trap is well constructed and after "tuning" and lubricating the trip linkage and putting grease on the door hook it releases just fine. Here is the big problem with trying to catch ground squirrels. The trap is too short. Even when hanging a peanut at the far end of the trap the squirrel trips the trap but either his rear end or tail is hang out stopping the trap door from locking. Squirrel pushes the door open and is gone. I've watch this happen several times. Then the squirrel is trap wise and won't go in it again. It works fine for chipmunks if you can adjust the trip mechanism light enough to trip from a chipmunks weight. So in closing don't buy this trap to trap ground squirrels. It doesn't catch them most of the time!

Several days ago, we started hearing some animal running around in the attic. Every night we'd lay in bed listening to the noises above our heads while our 3 big dogs sat on our bed staring at the ceiling and whining all night. So, I got this trap a few days ago and put some peanut butter mixed with black oil sunflower seeds in a little dish. I put the dish at the end of the trap and set it up in my attic on top of the furnace where I could see lots of droppings. I didn't cover it or anything. I checked it everyday and two days after I set the trap, I found two rats in it! I was surprised that two got caught at the same time, but it was a very nice surprise. They had eaten all of the peanut butter mixture and were just sitting in the trap looking at me. I took them to a field a mile away and let them go. They ran off and looked fine and happy. I thunk I figured out where they were getting in so I plugged that hole and so far we haven't heard anymore noises in the attic. If we do, I'm glad we have this trap because it worked really well and we can use it again.

I would rate it a 10 if I could. Perfect size and very easy to set up. Pre bait the area you will be using the trap for at least 3 days . Get them used to finding bait there. I use a lot of peanut butter with sunflower seeds sprinkled on top, then set trap where you had the pre bait.
