I filled the dumbbells with water and left an air bubble close to the opening. My 3 year old likes to lift these up and show off his arm muscles to the family. While he is using these, I do feel a few drops of water coming out even though the dumbbells have the red stopper in them. The plastic is also thin so your kid might squish them and release more water.

I’ve recently started working out and every time I do, my kids always want to join me. I saw these on Amazon and thought they were perfect! They’re simple to use and work just like you’d expect. I was impressed with how secure the water in the weights are, even while actively using them. My kids are happy now that they have their own workout equipment and I am happy that they can join me during my workouts and participate safely. I highly recommend this product.

Got this for my 2 1/2 year old so he could "work out" along with me and these are great! They can be filled with water which is easy to do with the hole on the side. I dropped a star because some of them leak a little... it's not a lot though. What I like is each one weighs differently when filled and the weight is totally adjustable to the child's needs. Perfect for teaching fitness early on and creating healthy habits!

These water weights are perfect for kids wanting to work out with their parents. So far, they don't leak, and they are easy to store.

These weights are fine for what they are. My 6yo daughter has been wanting to work out with her dad, and mac n cheese boxes weren’t cutting it. She was very excited to see these delivered, and likes the bright colors.I wish they came with a small funnel for filling, mine is too big so I had to just fill carefully. I used water as I don’t have sand, and they do leak a little. Not terribly, but the seal is not perfect. It’s just a plastic piece that fits snugly, there’s no rubber/silicone gasket to seal it. I think I’ll go to the store and buy some sand this week; I don’t believe that will leak out.

Lots of fun for my 3 year old

These dumbbells are great for kids to learn the fundamentals behind weight lifting. They are easy to use and the kids love them. I do wish they were made out of a slightly more sturdy material, but they are lightweight and perfect for small hands.

I was happy to discover these. My kids (6 & 3) often want to play around with our lightest real weights (3 lbs) when they see them and even though they can handle the weight, if they dropped on their foot it would still do real damage. These plastic toy weights are a great way to allow that form of imitative play safely.The weights are light but still feel like there is some resistance when you lift them, which feels appropriate for young kids. I filled ours with water but you can also use sand, I'm not sure if there's a weight difference between the two materials.The plug is quite difficult to open, which is a good thing! It's a bit of a hassle when you first try to fill them, but once you have filled them the first time, I appreciate that the plug is very secure. I haven't had any issues with leaking in the first month, and I think it would be very hard for a little kid to pull out the plug. I feel comfortable leaving these out for use in our garage.
