I have upgraded my review to 5 stars. The dusk to dawn capability is now working again using the "Scenes" capability within the Smart Life app. In my case I configured the program around noon one day and the feature did not work that evening but the following evening it started working perfectly. It has now worked perfectly for 4 days since. I understand from the seller that this is related to how the Smart Life sever is configured. I was surprised that the seller, by using the serial number I sent to the seller, was able to get very specific information from the Smart Life app support team about when I configured the program and when the Smart Life sever actually executed the commands.Their time stamps were off, they claimed I configured the setting at 1.31am UTC 4/24 (=8.31pm EST 4/23) when I had actually configured the device around noon 4/23. Sunset in my location was 7.20pm that day. Some people might find this a bit creepy that everything you do with the app is being recorded and can be given to 3rd parties... In fairness to the seller, after I posted the 1 star review, they did put in a lot of effort into figuring out the issue I was having and they did comp me one new switch to see if that fixed the issue.Original Review;I have had these switches installed for about 2 months now. When I purchased these the description stated that they had dusk to dawn capability and they did when I initially installed them. About two weeks after I installed them I got an email from the seller apologizing about an issue that was being reported on many of the switches. It was reported that many of these switches were having issues about 30 days after installation where the manual on/off switch stopped working. Concurrent with this notice the ability to use dusk and dawn in the schedule was removed. I asked the seller for an update on the dusk to dawn option. They asked for the serial numbers of my units and I supplied them. That was over a month ago and since then I have no other response from the seller. The units are working fine with specific time schedules, but I purchased them to control outside lights using the dusk to dawn feature that was advertised and worked initially.

I bought these switches because they seemed to have great reviews. I wanted to use them with my Echo for automation of a couple of lights in the house. I liked that they also had the manual on/off and an indicator light on the rocker switch, and I loved that they were compatible with the phone app I'm using for other smart home automation gadgets.We first tried installing one in a switch with a light that has only five 35-watt halogen bulbs (175 watts total, which is less than the rated power of the wall switch, which says it is for up to 1650 watts), but when the manual switch was pressed, the wall switch buzzed and the lights flickered and then almost immediately turned off. The breaker did not flip, but the light would not come back on. We consulted the instructions and verified installation with an electrician.So we tried the same switch in a completely different location on a completely different breaker. In the second switch, the exact same thing happened as with the first switch - the wall switch itself buzzed; lights flickered on, then immediately off.I was able to add the switch in my phone app and tried to manually turn it on and off from the app as well, but that did not work, either. The same result occurred using that method.So then we thought maybe the one switch was faulty, so we tried the second switch, since I ordered two. We tried the second switch again in both spots, and neither worked.I contacted the company and they were unhelpful, so I returned these switches.

Upon receipt I was a little skeptical as the box didn’t even displayed the brand and the app was from a third party. First I installed the app to see if it was any good and although simple had all what I needed being also intuitive. Thereafter I replaced two of the switches on a four plate switch to control my front yard lighting, which was very easy to install, everything needed was provided in the box. Once done it was super simple to connect, I didn’t even opened the instructions, just reading some of the reviews on Amazon gave me sufficient information. Setting it up on Echo was a breeze, no bugs or hiccups like some other products. I liked being able to program for turning on at sunset and off at a desired time and my wife likes that it can be simply manually operated having on and off light indicators. The same day I installed we had a bad storm coming through town, one of the switches lost connection and the other not, weird, had to manually reconnect, hope it doesn’t happen often or will downgrade my review later. I’m super happy with the product, it’s quality and price and will likely stick to this brand when replacing other switches.Update: had to downgrade the switch, one of them stopped working and could no longer reconnect. Called Amazon and there was no replacement for the defective unit, only return. How unfortunate! Decided to ship the product back and order the well rated Kasa switch. It would be a great product if it was reliable, perhaps another cheaply made Chinese junk.
