D'Addario EJ17s: one of my favorite string choices
I’m still exploring acoustic string choices. So far, until I try other strings out, EJ17s remain among my favorite. Let me be clear, by other strings I mean primarily D’Addarios. I would love to be able to use EJ18s but I don’t want to watch my guitars crumple/crack/split with the tension of EJ18s on flat top acoustics using a standard tuning. Absent that choice, I’ll use EJ17s for their (as advertised) warm and bright tone and somewhat punchy bass strings when muted during flat-picking.These are the heaviest gauge strings I can use that produce the tone and sound I want on the guitars I have. I keep strings on far longer than recommended and I continue to be surprised by how well these strings maintain a good tone over time. They’re durable, they sound great to me and, even when they are past their prime, they still sound good to me. You may wish to change your strings closer to recommended intervals to maintain the best sound you can get and, if you do, EJ17s are a fine, cost-effective choice for players desiring this gauge and tone.

They are not the string of a couple years back ...
They are not the string of a couple years back... they changed something or cheap'in the string.... less copper maybe. I don't know but they lack volume, a little muffled.

My favorite string
This is my favorite string to use on all my acoustic instruments. The strings last a long time, in my opinion. They keep their bright look and sound, even when my friend with acid for sweat borrows my guitar.I have always liked D'Addario's packaging. Instead of each string coming in an individual envelope marked with the gauge, D'Addario color codes the ball end of the string -- so the G is green, the low E is brass (I think - I'm doing this from memory), the high E is silver, and so on. I really like that -- there isn't an explosion of paper at a gig when I have to change a string quickly. It's a learning curve -- once you know the system it's great, but the first few times, it's a bit of a hassle to reference the package to find which color string goes where.D'Addario is my favorite string, hands down, after almost 40 years of playing.

My fave strings at an amazing price
My favorite acoustic guitar strings at highway robbery price - what's not to like! I've used these stings exclusively since I bought my first acoustic guitar, and they've never let me down.

Great strings
I like D'Addario strings. They last long and sound good all the time. Plus, they are the strings that Takamine puts on their new instruments.
