Great replacement cylinder gives you extra chair height and improved comfort
My office chair came with a Class 3 cylinder but it was too low for good posture and I'm only average height. I chose this cylinder as a replacement as it is Class 4 for extra strength and offered the biggest height increase. It was delivered in a bubble wrap tube in a cardboard envelope but it was undamaged. There are many videos online giving advice on removing your old cylinder. The best advice I found was to tip the chair on its side, then lift the base. The using a heavy hammer, strike the metal support of the chair hard a few times, as close to the top of the cylinder as possibl, which got the chair free. A brilliant tip for removing the base is to use a strong plastic bin as a support. Position chair legs on the rim of the bin so the cylinder is pointing down. Then hit the protruding edge of the cylinder (not the centre clip) with the trusty hammer. The bin holds the chair base rigidly and so the hammer can be most effective, rather than trying to hold the base and hit the cylinder at the same time.Comparing old and new, this cylinder at minimum extension was longer than the old one at maximum. Fitting it was simplicity itself in comparison to removing the old one. Just push the top of the cylinder into the chair base, slide the legs over the base of the cylinder, turn the chair right way up and sit on it. The effect of the new longer cylinder on my leg posture was dramatic. I'm no longer sitting too low with my knees too bent (which was bad for my arthritic knees). This cylinder has nearly 6 inches of adjustment which is more than enough for me. The old cylinder never had any spring at all, this one does give a little so my comfort is improved as well. The description says this is for tall people, but I would say it is suitable for all but the very shortest adults. However do make sure you measure the length of the old cylinder and compare with the measurements of the new one to be sure this one is suitable for you.

So far so awesome! - Suitable for tall & heavy persons (I'm 1.98m tall & 145Kg - had no issues)
►Review of: 6" Long Stroke Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Heavy Duty Replacement Tall Person◄I purchased this to actually replace the cylinder on a brand new chair as the original had only 3" of travel making it too low for me.So far, this has worked a treat - it's raised my chair more than enough for my long legs, plus it's firmer than the original too which is great as that felt soft like it wouldn't hold my mass for very long before it started to sag as I'm no ballet dancer.𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱/𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂:I'm 1.98m tall and I don't have it fully extended for a desk that's 85cm tall. And I'm roughly 145kg - (it's 2019, I don't know what that is in stone, pounds, fluid ounces, or shillings... it's bloody heavy) - and it not only holds my weight when I flop into it after a hard day but it also doesn't compress a massive amount either, it doesn't come close to bottoming out so even my considerable weight isn't putting it under any strain.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fits just fine, works brilliantly so far, very happy. I will update my review if I notice any sagging issues over time.Would 100% recommend

Good replacement for an Ikea Vreksam (1999) office chair
Purchased after a tip, because it is suitable for an Ikea Vreksam office chair. And indeed it fits, totally great, it only took 20 minutes to replace the old gas spring for this new one. Do use some PFTE spray (such as WD40), then it will come off more easily. The only point of criticism is the shipping, gas spring was in a simple bubble envelope, and that for an article of 1.5 kilos. Fortunately no visible damage, but as far as I'm concerned it could have been packed a little better!

Perfect repair
My Songmics office chair ,at less than one year old was in very good condition but the piston collapsed and it was at its lowest and wobbly and too dangerous to use. Rather than purchase a replacement chair ,I opted for a replacement gas cylinder which , I was able to fit in a short time and left my chair back to what it was originally. I am delighted with my purchase as it meant I did not have to dump a perfectly good chair body and base and outlay at least a further £100 for a replacement chair. The cylinder fitted perfectly and I am hopeful it will last longer than the original one did. All in all a very cheap and effective repair to an almost one year old chair.. If this cylinder collapses ,I would definitely opt for another replacement. It is a very cost effective repair and I would highly recommend others to use this route.

Does the job nicely
Bought this as a replacement for my nearly 20 year old Aeron. There's videos on youtube for how to replace - I used the pipe wrench method. You do need some strength ! Certainly zero issues after a month and I'm kicking myself I hadn't done it earlier. There was a noticeable sink when I sat down and that's no longer the case. Feels like a new chair again.

Great for tall people.
I bought this as the gas lift on my IKEA Marcus desk chair was too short for me, meaning I had to use a cushion to get the right height, and even that didn’t do it properly. This gas lift was easy to fit - just WD40 to either end of the existing one, and knock off the chair seat and wheel base, using taps with a lump hammer, and slotted the new one in place. It has revolutionised the chair, I can now choose the correct height - it goes much higher than I need, which is great. I am 6ft5.It feels solid and doesn’t depress hardly at all under my not inconsiderable 20 stone weight.I recommend it for tall people who find normal gas lifts too low.
