Amazon BasicsSmart Plug, Works with Alexa Only, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, No Hub Required, 4-Pack, White

My two gosund plugs and my power strip no longer connect to either gosund app or back to Alexa. Spent frustratingly too much time reading forums etc and trying to sort it out. No. I don't also want to pay for a subscription for whatever additional value you think I need from a smart plug. No, I don't need to use your app to see my power usage on a plugged in lamp...just turn it on and off.Time to throw that brandij the trash and try something else. Enter Amazon basic smart plugs. Great price for a four pack at my time of purchase around $20 and stellar reviews and sales.Within five minutes I had my plugs connected. Go to Alexa app. Add new plug, Amazon basics. Is the plug connected? Yes, yes it is... as I sat there holding it in my hand. Scan the QR code on the back of the plug, don't worry about the piece of paper, and the search begins. Plug it in. Alexa found it immediately. Didn't take long to connect. Names it as first plug, second plug, etc. The app asks if you want to add it to a group. You can also audibly tell Alexa, "Change first plug name to (whatever you choose)" she confirms your instruction then renames it for you and it flips it in the app in a moment as well.Now I can turn on my living room when I walk in at night and I not have to walk over to one lamp and turn the knob like some commoner. My other lamp has a smart bulb which still works just fine. Checked, it's not a gosund. Mwahaha.So screw you gosund and thank you yet again Amazon.

We have multiple smartplugs controlling various items around our house. One thing that has frustrated me with previous versions of Amazon Smartplugs is that the physical size of the unit made it too large to use in a double gang outlet box. The plug was so wide that it made the outlet next to it unusable. I'm not sure why they designed a plug to be used in North American outlets that didn't take that into consideration. The new version seems to have addressed that issue and are smaller in size. The newer ones were as easy to set up as previous outlets and, after several weeks of use, I have no complaints. Also, the price has finally gotten to a reasonable level. Previous plugs were priced at $25 which was rather high in my opinion. We would only buy them on sale. The current price of 4 for $20 for basically the same device makes purchasing them at their normal daily cost acceptable.

Well built set of plugs. However, I could not get them to work with my Amazon Dot. I am not a good enough programmer to make it work as I needed in my application.

I have a pretty substantial pile of these things from other manufacturers that are difficult to configure and tend to be quite unreliable. . These things are pretty seamless to set up. By the way, every one of these things say they only work with 2.4 GHz wireless - after searching and failing to find my 2.4 gig Wi-Fi a number of times, I finally just gave up and selected the 5 gigahertz band - instant success. Of course your mileage may vary. But it's worth a shot if you're having a hard time getting it on your local Wi-Fi network.

Good smart plug that connected easily with alexa and functions great. I have it connected to a lamp from IKEA that has small bulbs that are very hard to find online with smart home capabilities. Bridges that lamp to my smart home well.Not a problem at all for me but i do wish the plug was less bulky.

All you basically do is insert the plug of your item, (which you turn on) into this smart plug in plug it into an outlet. Your Alexa will search for it and find it. Once it's "found" you can rename it to what you want, like "Fan" or "Lamp." Both of mine even work with an extension cord. I had no problems with the set up. Easy-peasy. 😁
