Great for a grow light
Easy to install and it was exactly what I was looking for. I use this to add grow lights to plants, during winter months.

Beyond My Expectations
I am really satisfied with this light fixture. I received the order very quickly. It was well packaged -- didn't look as if it had been 're-packaged after a return'. It appeared to be a brand new box, as well as the fixture itself. Application appeared to be quick and easy. I got a maintenance guy to put it up. He did it rather quickly. I purchased dimmable LED globe bulbs from Walmart. They work perfectly. The difference in lighting is amazing! It's as if I'm sitting outside, and I love it. It's so bright, I'm considering placing a dimmer switch to control the lighting. The fixture is at the dining area that's apart of the large living space and can be bothersome when TV watching. The directional canisters allow me to place one at my computer desk, one at the dining table and the other, living room. One 'hmmm': the color appears 'white' online, but against my white ceiling fan, the fixture is grayish in color. It is not white. It's only noticeable if you're looking up at it. Other than that, I have no complaints. This is exactly what I needed.

These can really brighten your day.
I bought a bunch of these to replace the standard light fixtures that came with the house. I installed one of these in a walk-in closet and two as accent lights in my workshop. It's good that you can point the light but keep in mind that the insides of the fixture are colored black to keep light from bouncing around other areas.*You can actually remove the inside color as it's just a plastic part if you'd like more reflectivety in the room than these already provide.Only downer is that these only come in one color (white) - I took mine to a local paint-shop and had them re-colored to match the rooms they went in. Worth it too considering that these are priced lower than the standard lights at the local hardware store.Durability:I actually dropped one of these a full 8-feet while I was on the ceiling installing them. I had to re-position the ceramic bulb-holder inside as it bent from the impact, but it didn't break the ceramic or hinder preformance of the light. One of the black plastic inserts also chipped from the fall but isn't noticeable when it's above your line of sight. Pretty solid product.

Horrible build quality. Don't waste your time and energy on cheap
How hard can it be to screw up a ceiling light? The people at Westinghouse are sure giving the record a run for its money. First, the metal fixture around each bulb has a black plastic ring for ascetics. The one I received was cracked. It's just cheap plastic and it's going to be 13 feet up in the air, so who cares.Installation of the unit itself was straightforward. Pull out a 12 foot extension ladder and away we go. After attaching the light to the ceiling, I was ready to celebrate. Two of the bulbs went in, but the third just wouldn't screw into the base. Now, the joke is how many ____s does it take to screw in a light bulb? The answer is: I don't know. Despite my every effort, the bulb wouldn't go in. Before you mock me, and maybe rightfully so, realize that I had gone two for two on the other parts of the light. So, I'm still shooting 66%I had ordered two of the units, so I uninstalled everything and put the second unit up. I went 1 for 3 on that one. Why I didn't check it on the ground is beyond me. Perhaps I still had faith that the Westinghouse Company had only screwed up once. After bringing down both units, it appears that the threads are either too deep or misaligned in the base. I'm glad they are using us to sort out their quality issues. Well, they did it once...

"Retro" fixture as good as it was in the 80's
This REAL "General Electric" fixture design is MANY years old but still functions well and is still the same build as many years ago. I have retrofitted these into closets for many years and the directional pointing as well as the 'light shielding' (from glaring into your eyes) works perfectly for that purpose with a great price. You can use up to 75watt bulbs per the mfg, HOWEVER, I would not use more than 60's or else it will suffer heat damage overtime. DO NOT use Halogens - they are WAAAaaaaay too hot!!! In fact, the best bulb I have found today (especially in the closet where you need 'blinding' light) is the "light bulb look" (top half LED lens) LED units matching 100w light. They run much cooler and also throw HUGE amounts of light only concentrated in the "reflector area" of the fixture; making it incredibly bright and more 'focused' where you point it.

wiring is not copper
Likes: It looks better that what it replaced. The fixture was larger than the one it replaced so I didn't have to worry about the ring left in the ceiling from prying the old fixture from the ceiling. The off-white color worked well for me.Dislikes: Aluminum wire is used in the fixture ... more common in the 1970's The junction between the house copper to light aluminum restricts use to 75 watts. Suggest that you use LED lights to be on the safe side.It has a removable black insert that makes the white fixture have a black 1/4 inch ring visible from outside. You should plan to remove them because they will probably be broken. I bought 4 lights (12 inserts). only 4 inserts were not broken. Again, suggestive that these were manufactured long ago. Finally, if you are replacing a ceiling light, the mounting bolt had different threads than the bracket in the ceiling so I had to remove it and use the included mounting bracket instead.
