Works well (iMac, Thunderbolt 3, CD/DVD burner, keyboard)
I purchased this adapter cable to connect a USB 2 optical drive to an iMac on one of the Thunderbolt 3 ports. The drive reads and writes CDs and DVDs without any problems over the connection.Five stars because "it just works" plus Apple's version of this cable is a lot more expensive.----------Update (July 2018): No problems to report, still working after upgrading macOS from Sierra to High Sierra.Update (January 2019): No problems to report.Update (February 2019): Bought a second adapter to use with wired keyboards. No issues so far.Update (June 2019): No problems to report on either adapter.Update (July 2019): Both still working after upgrading to macOS Mojave.Update (March 2020): No problems to report.Update (September 2020): No problems to report. I'm not going to put macOS Catalina on my computer so I don't anticipate any system incompatibilities until at least the release of Big Sur. And if Apple fails to make Big Sur stable and secure, I'm staying with Mojave as long as I can.Update (October 2021): No problems to report (and still on Mojave).

it works perfectly I recommend buying this one before an apple one
The guy at the apple store tried to sell me their $20 adapter and swore to me that this one wouldn't work, it works perfectly I recommend buying this one before an apple one!

May work, may not. Good luck. Amazon is not fully complying with USB specs
This USB adapter does _not_ mean strict USB Type-C and/or USB 3.1 standards. This is a common problem now since so many devices now share a port and plug design. The catch is that there are several different standards using one form. Not a problem if standards for the format are followed, but _many_ manufacturers are failing to do this. This adapter will work with some of your devices, but more demanding ones will not. I attempted to attach and external solid state drive using this and it did not work. Testing with other adapters showed that it was the adapter, not the drive or the port on the computer.

Using this adaptor with a MacBook Pro will fry your peripherals
I used this adaptor with my MacBook Pro and I fried both a Hololens and a Native Instruments audio workstation. It may not be this products fault but please be warned about the fact that MBPs output 20v instead of 5v when plugged into the main power!! This has cost me over 3k in replacements. Please don't let it happen to you.

Works like it should.
I got his USB "C" to USB 3 adapter because of the 3 inch cable on it, puts less stress on the USB C port on the computer than the short stubby ones with no cable. Does the job, as do most Amazon Basics products. Makes it easy to use my non "C" USB thumb drives and to connect my Google Pixel XL phone to my laptop (the Google Pixels are all USB C).

It Works Really Well!!
My boyfriend just bought a new Mac Book Pro & there are no USB outlets on it. We needed something quick so he could use it on his radio show that weekend. We ended up getting something cheap since we had to pay for next day shipping. This came on time, and was exactly what he needed. We were planning on getting a better quality one but there is no need because this is perfect! We will probably buy another one to have one at the house and have one in his backpack.

Good Buy!
Solid quality. Works. Full USB 3 speeds (many adapters fail to output USB speed). Beware that many USB C ports on Chinese brand devices are not USB 3 speed. Those that are, often the device can not handle USB input speeds so you may mistakenly assume this adapter isn't working. I recommend this adapter.

Works Well - A Vital Bit Of Kit
This adaptor works well for me and so far, appears to be robust. I purchased mine to plug into the side of a MacBook Pro, which is fitted only with the slim new USB -C ports. It allows me to connect my old, but still perfectly serviceable printer. It also lets me charge up my B&O bluetooth headphones which again are fitted with the new C-style port. Over time everything will move over to the new format, but whilst we remain in a transition period, or want to carry on connecting up to older products, adaptors like this will be vital. One end of this adaptor is a USB-C male plug and the other a standard sized USB female socket. It comes in a small cardboard box, with no plastic packaging involved. Hoorah.

Great, sturdy product but a bit expensive at Rs.599/-
I purchased it for my Macbook pro 13" with Mac OS Sierra. It works well for the tasks I need it for.I tested it with my Sony external Hard Disk, my Dell keyboard, Hp mouse and my Samsung J7 Pro (file transfer and USB tethering). Please note that for file transfer from Android device to mac, you need to install 'Android File Transfer' on your Mac. Also, for USB tethering, you need to install 'HornDIS' on mac (version 8 worked for me).Overall, a good product but a bit expensive in my opinion (Rs.599/- is too much for a cable only 5" long)

don't bother expecting ANY iPad to work with these adaptors.
Please see my review of 'other' unbranded usb type A to type C adaptor. BOTH THIS adaptor reviewed HERE are supposedly 'USB 3.1'.NEITHER are capable of USB 3.1 'speeds' using the 'type C' port or connector (since the Type A port or connector WILL be slower (USB 3.0), and that assumes that NEITHER adaptor are FAKES of 'usb 3.0 or 3.1').NEITHER was capable of transmitting enough voltage or wattage or amps through it to charge or power my iPad 8, even WITHOUT adding the Amazon purchased 'Apple Lightning to usb 3 camera adaptor'.But since ALL THREE ADAPTORS I bought from the Amazon (uk) store - including an 'Apple Lightning USB 3.0 camera adaptor' had to be returned as 'not working' or 'faulty', I have to assume either faulty or fake.A presumably GENUINE (because it actually works, and was bought in an Apple Store), Lightning to usb 3 camera adaptor, cost me £40, plus another £40 for a Belkin Lightning to USB C charge & sync cable (also from the Apple Store). The above items from Amazon cost hell of a lot less, but they also did not work.

Consigliato a tutti!

DO NOT BUY FOR MACBOOK PRO!
Please DO NOT BUY this adapter for your 2019 MacBook Pro!! I’ve had for a month (since I got my laptop) and it has caused nothing but issues. Before knowing this was the. Before knowing this was the Culprit, I took the laptop to an Apple genius in cambridge as the Mac got extremely hot (like burning hot) when using simple apps like word. They couldn’t find anything wrong with the laptop however. I then noticed that I had this thing plugged inn it was getting very warm and so I unplugged it. Sure enough, it started to call down even though I was on the same PowerPoint. So please, spend a bit more to get the Apple one. It’ll be worth your money and time!
