Amazon Basics USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI Adapter - Black, 5-Pack

This item requires an "Alternate Mode" of USB Type-C to function. Not all USB C ports support all alternate modes, so having a USB-C port does not guarantee that this device will work. For example, my Asus G752 laptop is not compatible. This is what causes the device to install as a "Billboard Device" as mentioned in many other reviews. It requires a specific set of hardware which is NOT common to all USB Type C ports. I'm giving this product a negative review because the product description here on Amazon fails to inform people of this requirement, and I now have to return it.Before buying, check whether your USB Type C port supports alternate modes. If it doesn't, do not buy.Aside from that, the build quality seems nice enough. The plastic is nice and glossy and feels pretty solid in the hand. The cord is very short, but you can see that in the pictures.

It works ok. I’ve had it for half a year and use it pretty infrequently. After about two months of use, I noticed that the sound cuts out sporadically. Sometimes it plays fine for 10 minutes and then the sound cuts out for two seconds. Other times it’s 3 minutes. It’s not too noticeable, but sometimes it cuts out during dialogue, which forces me to rewind to hear what was said. It can become very tedious and irritating to keep rewinding. I thought maybe that it was an issue with my hdmi or sound bar, but neither had any sound problems with my other devices. As of now, I would not recommend purchasing this converter. Mine could have just been a lemon, but it’s frustrating nonetheless.

This is only one of several simple usb-c 3.1 to hdmi adapters I have tried that actually work, without adjustments - and it's the cheapest one. I have a long 25' hdmi cable attaching my matchbook pro to my 82" smart hi def TV to use especially for viewing 1080p movie files, when wifi airplay mirroring results in audio and video dropouts. When my 1-yr old uni adapter failed, I first tried four other adapters from various vendors I bought at the same time, finding the cumbersome Apple multi-adapter (not a simple inline adapter) to be the only one to work. I then purchased a new Uni in-line adapter, which failed after a few days, and as backup, this "cheap" Amazon Basics adapter, which has worked without fail for a month.

I bought this to use for presentations at work. I have a new Macbook Pro 16, and like many others, I tend to do presentations at work, where the conference rooms are hooked up via HDMI cables. I thought that this would be a useful tool to have in my backpack at all time.However, when I hooked this up, the picture was jittery, and poor quality. After adjusting my refresh rate on my Macbook, and tinkering with the screen settings, I was able to get it to work, but the picture quality was subpar, and ultimately, I decided to return it. One thing to note, this adapter does not do 4K videos.If you need an alternative port adaptor/connector, look at Anker. I usually love Amazon cables, but here, Anker shines through.

This as a very simple job. It does that job without fail. It doesn't get glitchy. It doesn't overheat. It doesn't come unplugged. It just works every single time.

I've bought this for extending a mini PC (Intel NUC) to have a second monitor as NUC generation 7 and 8 has only one HDMI output for display.It was plug and play, worked immediately with a Windows 10 PC, and I've ended up ordering about 10 more for my client's office. My client switched all the PCs to Intel NUC for its small size and reasonable business application performance but they wanted every PC to have two monitors.This item is very small so you would need another HDMI cable to connect to the second monitor.I've tried this for shooting the video on my phone to a TV and it worked as well.Nice handy item to carry for various purposes.

I bought this to watch Netflix in my phone. Every time I plug it in, my phone loses service completely. Plug the old cord in....works just fine. Plug it in again. No service. I thought it was a fluke thing at first but it has happened every single time over several weeks. I'm super bummed about it...

To begin with Amazon's delivery was quite fast and I received the product in 2 days time although I am at a far flung location. Before proceeding any further you should remember that it only works with phones with 3.1 USB speeds and Slimport and not just every other Type - C phone. Now coming to the product, I am using it with my LG V30+ with my Sony TV and it is exactly what I hoped it to be byt doesn't work with my LG G6 due to its missing Slimport standard. Below are its Pros and Cons.Pros-No input lagGreat Picture Quality which can be modified to your preference with your Monitor /TV's display settings.No deterioration in sound or motion quality.Everything you do on your device is projected exactly as you see it on your device including YouTube, Netflix, and Prime Video.Thereby Turns your Phone into.a small powerful CPU once you connect some wireless peripherals.Cons-Biggest Con is that if your phone has a 18:9 ratio screen like mine it will show up exactly like that on the TV. i.e even though native 16:9 content should show up as full screen on the 16:9 TV it will instead show up with a frame of small black bars around it, be it YouTube or Netflix. Using zoom or wide mode on you TV wont solve itInstead of changing your Phone while connected to the display as many might infer to be the case, instead it takes up quite a decent amount of your Phone's battery to project your display. Recently got a new Samsung Galaxy s10 and needed something to connect my phone to my tv.First thing, the item is way smaller than amazon make it look. I have pictured it next to a standard computer mouse for sizing. Amazon haven't done it justice with their pictures... I was expecting it to be much bigger!Quality seems great, I have had no issues at all and the picture looks perfect when I am streaming through my phone to the tv. I have yet to try it on my PC monitor with a faster refresh rate but I expect the results will be good.All in all a great product and I would highly recommend... especially for anyone thinking about connecting their new phone to their TV.
