Q: How sturdy is this cardboard? Is it as flimsy as a cereal box? More like a shipping box?

I purchased them for my grandson who is eleven months old. I wish I had not. They are a cheap replacement for a good toy. Today I will be purchasing different ones. Dont do it, they are not a sturdy toy meant to go the distance, they split open quickly, If the toddler tastes them they peal right off, they are a one day quick toy for a party maybe? This is not a toy that will go any distance. :( Waste of money.

These are cardboard stacking boxes. There is no noise-maker in the smallest box. It is just a 5-sided box.

Q: can I close the bottom but fold top inward to use as holders for small vases/plants for baby shower?

They would be perfect as little holders. They are all closed on the bottom, open on the top. In other words, all sides of the cube but one is closed.
