The picture is just the spruces. Do they come in a box?

ours come in a box, we buy them direct brand new.

How many come with it

According to the text on the front of the box, 20 figures.

Are the miniatures hard to assemble?

With a little crazy glue and an x-acto knife to remove the individual pieces from their sprues, the figures are fairly easy to assemble. They do not click together on their own or anything, however.
