2018 release. Yesterday and Today is a tribute album to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the legendary prog rock band Yes. Six members of Curved Air appear on a newly recorded full band version of "Soon". The current bass player in Yes, Billy Sherwood re-records Chris Squire's signature bass track, The Fish, and current lead singer Jon Davison performs on an acoustic medley.

This is Amazing!
This 50th anniversary tribute to YES is filled with great stuff that sounds fantastic. Members of YES are all over this album but Billy Sherwood really shines on so many of these tracks, "The Fish" being a particular standout. His bass work on the "Wurm" section of "Starship Trooper" is also really spectacular. Jon Davison takes three classic YES songs and melds them together in a warm acoustic version that is out of this world. Also on hand for the proceedings are Tony Kaye, Geoff Downes, Tom Brislin and Jay Schellen. With so many members of YES playing on this it sounds like a strange hybrid of YES with lots of great guests. I love everything on here but the real surprise for me was Sonja Kristina's soulful and stunning vocals on "Soon." If you are a YES fan you will probably really love this 50th anniversary celebration of the greatest prog band of all time. Thanks Dave and Fernando for putting together a truly worthy album of YES music for their anniversary. Best of all? No "Roundabout" or "Owner of A Lonely Heart." This one is special!

Superb Recordings
I did not know if I was going to like this set of tribute recordings from my favorite band or not. After listening to it for 15 seconds, I knew where this was going. Crystal clear sound engineering, instruments and vocals from the various artists performing these wonderful Yes songs. Very many guest artists including current and former members of Yes. Every song is great on this CD which is the format that I purchased. It's a winner.

Disappointing
While having some B-list players guest on this disc peripherally connected to Yes (and a few who aren't), the two musicians who are the driving forces behind this tribute just aren't very good. They're not imaginative, and they're not uncovering anything new or unique. It sounds like music students' versions of Yes songs.

A Yes tribute for Yes freaks
An amazing collection of tracks faithfully renditioned (not reproduced) by some very talented musicians, as well as several past and present members of Yes. A Job very well done! Thank you, Fernando Perdomo and Dave Kerzner for your meticulous production work, as always. Long live the awesome synergy that springs from Cruise To The Edge!

OUI,OUI,OUI c'est manifique !
Worth the entry fee for the first two tracks alone at over 20 minutes of it's 75 mins running time. Must confess I am not aware of the 2 guys behind this, but never fear this is a fitting collection. For those whom know Yours Is No Disgrace and its aural movement if listen on headphones, this recreates it all to a T. Only gripe would be the 2 minute running time of Turn Of The Century, but it runs almost seamlessly into Sweetness, though performed by different artists. ( though with Annie Haslam having covered "Turn" in full elsewhere I can live with this). You maybe concerned with the variety of vocalists used, many of which are female. Well all do a fine job even if from differing musical backgrounds. The musicianship is top notch and reminds one of what brilliant musicians and writing talent we have been treated to this last 50 years. - just hope the CHRIS SQUIRE tribute is in my letterbox sooner that promised.

Interesting . a curates egg
A number of observations first, this just shows how amazing the original recordings are. Some good efforts here but some truly awful. I did enjoy most of this and there are some great variations on some true classics. There are one or two excrutiating howlers too. 'Soon ' is truly awful and is the worst .plenty more good though and the track choice is nice and different too.

A very good addition
Some very impressive playing and interesting and gratifying interpretations. I would have preferred a greater input from female vocalists. (I’m a bit non plussed about the inclusion of I’m Running, given the choice of material.)

Pleasant surprise, great album
I've been listening to Yes music for about forty years so it was a real revelation to hear these familiar songs played by different musicians. Very well produced and great musicianship, particularly enjoyed Curved Air's interpretation of Soon, Sonja's voice really makes it a joy to listen to. Overall highly recommended for all Yes fans but also anyone who appreciates good music.
