Reading about John Leith's life, his daily hardships and the tragedies he faced, had me rivited. I wondered how one man could endure so much in a lifetime. The great distances he traveled by foot or by horse were astounding. Finding out this was a true story passed down to generation to generation was incredible. This book was very well written and I found myself wishing there was more. Kudos to the author!

Author, Audie Dallas Leith, has shared an incredible piece of his family history. The fact that, John Leith's stories had been written and passed down from generation to generation is incredible in itself. To read of the daily experiences and challenges this young man faced; to witness the murder of his friend, as the Wyandots battered his skull with tomahawks then skalped his naked body, as John held his family in his arms. One cannot even fathom such a horrible tragedy let alone witness it! This story of White Indian's life is truly amazing and filled with tragedy, love, excitement and wonder! The most spectacular vision for me would have to be the 1000 Delaware Indians coming towards him... You will have to read the book to find out what happened to the White Indian!
