Necessity when removing mkv VW struts
This tool served fantastically this last weekend. I replaced my stock springs with some performance lowering springs on my 08 VW rabbit. This tool proved itself essential in the process. It worked very well and still looks like it did when I received it even after the abuse during install. Sure you could try and use a screwdriver or a claw Crow bar, but this thing is small and stays put and out of your way while your working. I would highly recommend spending the cash on this tool if your considering any work on your struts.

It worked and it's afordable
I own the more expensive version of this (metalnerd) and misplaced it. I bought this thinking I may one day find my other unit so I would keep this as a back. Used this one last weekend and I can honestly say it worked just as good. Not confident this would hold up to regular use, but if you're a DIY mechanic like me who uses this once every few years than I would give this a shot. Aftermarket and factory shock slipped in with little effort (some wd40 or similar helps).

Great tool cuts service time in half.
Tool worked the way it was designed to. I use this in the professional automotive field performing front end work and various makes and models. Works great to remove those struts with strut forks and those pinch style spindles found on most European vehicles. Definitely beats banging the spindle with your hammer. Or worse having to bring out the air hammer. Payed for itself after the first time using it. Definitely recommend if your performing suspension work or front end work at your shop frequently. Great investment and time saver.

Cheap tool that broke on the first turn.
This spreader broke on the first turn! There is no way that this tool is hardened steel. As you can see by the pictures that this spreader snapped at the base and the steel is not heat treated. The bit is embedded in the socket and the blade is flush with the top so it snapped at its weakest point. I ordered another from another seller on Amazon and hopefully it’s actually the quality they are stating in the ad. If the new one breaks I will break down and buy a more expensive spreader. I will update this soon.

Great helper, but still be prepared to persuade old parts apart.
Does the job well, only complaint is that rust between the parts can build up over the years and make the tool (which was definitely designed to separate like-new parts) get it almost open and then need a light hammer tap to separate the knuckle from the strut, but that isn't the tool's fault. Just be prepared to still persuade the part just a little along with using this tool.

Gets the job done!
The strut spreader, although not as thick as the one I replaced, was very strong and got the job done without problems. The quality of the workmanship was better than expected. I recommend getting this to loosen your strut or coilovers.

The best tool for the job!
This tool is a must have for anyone wanting to remove/replace their VW struts. I tried everything from thicker screwdrivers, chisels, and pry bars to get them out before buying this adapter. After I received it, my strut came right out with little effort. The tool was strong and held up well under lots of tension.

Works
Works pretty good, I used this for my 17 gti, I would recommend getting a 3/8 perhaps over half inch. This is rather large to fit in the tight spots then having to use a 1/2 ratchet just makes it a little more challenging

Works well. The bit is a hardened steel hex shat that is machined.
Completed two suspensions with the tool. The end of the bit is holding up well. It is a hex shaft that is machined to an oval shape. Bit seems well hardened. Wish it was a 3/8 drive.

Parfait pour Golf City 2008
Fonctionne très bien, même pas eu besoin de forcer pour rentrer les shocks dans les spindles. Super utile!
