Practical and Revolutionary
Third generation placebos—the subject of Mr. Heiss’ book—will likely be revolutionary. It is humbling to realize that our body and mind is quite plastic. Imagine if placebos received even a fraction of the advertising publicity that conventional drugs do. We’d all be regular consumers of placebos and much better off for it.

Buyer Beware of this so-called book.
Buyer Beware: This books is, in my opinion, nothing but a money-making scam. First, the book has very little useful information that isn't available on Wikipedia or some other source that provides general information about the Placebo Effect. Second, the book (if it can be called that) uses large font, huge margins, and almost double line spacing! In other words, it would only amount to about 25 pages of text if it were formatted correctly. I'm disgusted that I wasted money on this so-called book.

Evolutionary
This book is an evolutionary tool--thoughtfully laid out, informative and illuminating key concepts that allow both scientists and lay-people to re-connect with the potential of the mind-body connection to be re-discovered and explored by each individual. It highlights the true nature of healing (i.e. individuals as self-healers), and welcomes space for all modes of additional healing complements--from western, to eastern to even subtler health techniques--according to what each person's mind is ready to accept as a necessary, helpful and powerful tool. An excellent read and roadmap.

This book will bring you up to speed on what is so exciting about open, honest placebos
Well researched, easy to read, designed for the “intelligent layperson,” this book will bring you up to speed on what is so exciting about open, honest placebos. Heiss has been on a quest to empower patients for decades. This book pulls together several of his lines of reasoning and makes (in my view) the argument that medicine is a practice best shared by patients and doctors together.

Great book!
This is an excellent book for patients in search of relief or people simply interested in learning more about the placebo effect. Uwe Heiss takes readers through the scientific history of placebos, and introduces two bizarre, but well supported ideas: 1) Placebos work even when someone knows they are taking a placebo, 2) Placebo effects can and should be maximized by doctors.

Thinking through the cutting edge of placebo studies
This book is valuable for both collecting what has only recently been gleaned from placebo studies, but also for thinking through the implications and future directions of that field of research, especially as regards the significance of open-label placebos. It therefore presents the cutting edge of that domain of study.

Inspirierend
