Bio Green IGL Igloo Greenhouse

This greenhouse is super handy when the temp gets too cold for our potted plants. Easy assembly.

Good sized, easy to assemble, and keeps my plants healthy and warm. Great for those cold Chicago winters.

You’ll want to make sure you understand just how large this item is. It measures 47.24 X 47.24 X 70.86” high. The second picture especially, with the brick wall, gives a good idea of how large it is. As long as you have space for it. . . . large is good, because you can place taller / large plants inside, as well as possibly more plants inside.If your plants are heavy, or if you have this “igloo” in a location which isn’t windy, then you’ll be find. If not, then you might want to consider placing some bricks, or other heavy objects inside.It’s fairly easy to put together, and take down when not in use. When you’re not using it, it doesn’t take up too much space, as long as you have a garage to put it in. . . but it’s certainly not super compact either.I’m not sure where it’s made, but no matter where it’s made, I think it’s a bit expensive at one-hundred-twenty bucks. Nonetheless, I like it and hope it will survive for at least a few seasons.

I've been wanting a portable greenhouse for awhile, so I was really anxious to try the Bio Green Igloo Mobile Plant Tent. I used it the whole season, so I can comment on durability, etc.When the Bio Green Igloo Mobile Plant Tent arrived, I was surprised to see what it was made of. I don't know what I was expecting, but bubble wrap wasn't it. The construction was basically a layer of a large bubble bubble wrap type of plastic sewn together with a vinyl bias tape. It slid over a metal frame that I was difficult to keep together until the tent part slid over it. The tent was secured by fabric ties inside and rope and stakes outside. The rope and stakes were tied to loops that were sewn into the bubble wrap tent. The stakes were small and not very sturdy, but did help stableize the tent. There's a removable floor that is a type of plastic/vinyl and attaches to the tent with Velcro. The frame fits inside the floor. The door is zippered and you pull it back and secure each side with an elastic loop. This is your cooling system.The bubble wrap is a nice insulator, but it did come apart at the seams where it was tied. The one stake tie pulled out of the wrap but still stayed attached to the bias tape. The bubble wrap had issues - bugs were caught inside it and there's no way to get them out. I have no idea how they got inside the walls, but they did! The Velcro attachment at the bottom for the floor went all the way around - including the doors. If you don't keep the grass trimmed way down - it gets caught in the Velcro when opening and closing the door.Plants will have to sit on the floor unless you put in some type of table, etc. I used buckets filled with water that I got from food service. They worked not only for raising the plants up, but the water warmed during the day and keep the plants warmer at night.The Bio Green Igloo Mobile Plant Tent did work nicely. I had a nice amount of starts to put out in the garden, but the construction leaves a lot to be desired. I have to repair it before putting away for next season. The tent is not very large and needs resewn in a few places plus bugs that will never come out of the "walls". My advice is to look at other tents and compare price/quality before deciding on which one to buy.

I live where there is a winter now and needed something for my outside plants to stay as I cannot bring them all inside the house. The 3 layer insulation is great to help keep my plants safe throughout the winter here! The size is quiet large at 47.24 x 47.24 x 70.86 inch. The quick and easy assembly with heavy duty zipper has worked well for us. I have a few plants in there that seem to be holding up well since we have some below 0 days and I am hopeful that they will continue to last through the rest of the winter!More updates to come!

Moving to the south after a lifetime in southern CA has been a learning curve in regard to gardening. Plants that are perennials in CA are annuals here! This is helping keep some plants alive during this cold winter. I have had a bit of trouble with it, but overall I like it.

Der Aufbau ist einfach und schnell, alles passt perfekt.Das, ich nenne es mal kurz Zelt, macht einen guten Eindruck und Folie mit Reisverschluss vermitteln Wertigkeit, kein Billigschrott.Nun mal kurz zu den anderen Meinungen:Lüftungsöffnungen sind keine vorhanden, soll auch nicht, ist für einen Winterschurz kontraproduktiv.Wenn es warm wird, muss man sich nach draußen bewegen und den Reisverschluss einStück öffnen.Für nicht winterharte Pflanzen, welche bei Minusgraden eingehen, ist das Zelt, ohne Heizmedium nicht geeignet.Ist doch klar, wenn es Draußen -12 Grad hat, dass im Inneren keine Plusgrade herrschen können.Es bleibt eben nicht ganz so kalt und der Wind entzieht den Pflanzen keine Wärme.Ohne Beheizung für z.B Feigenbäume geeignet, keinesfalls für Citrusbäume.Ich mache einen Frostwächter rein, welcher bei ca. 3 Grad anspringt.Durch die gute Isolierung braucht man nicht viel Energie und meine Zitronenbäume überleben ohne Blattfall.Ich habe ein Gewächshaus, und dort stelle ich das Zelt im Winter rein, da das Gewächshaus zu beheizen zu teuer für diesen Zweck ist.Habe das Zelt bei Amazon Warehouse gekauft ( Rückläufer) und muss sagen, für ca. 60 Euros ein guter Kauf.

Auf der Suche nach einer Überwinterungsmöglichkeit für meine Zitruspflanzen bin ich auf dieses Zelt gestoßen. Wichtig war mir eine Luftpolsterfolie zur besseren Isolation, da ich eine Heizmatte verwende um zu verhindern, dass der Wurzelballen/die Pflanze einfriert. Leider hat sich meine Befürchtung bewahrheitet, dass die Folie der Qualität einer normalen Luftpolsterfolie entspricht (Verpackungsmaterial). So hatten meine beiden Zelte leider schon bei Lieferung je ein Loch! Ansonsten ist leider auch bei mir der Boden gerissen bei dem Versuch den Boden um das Gestänge zu packen. Das Gestänge am besten etwas einkürzen oder Ihr müsst nähen ;-). Eine Alternative in der Größe und Preisklasse (angesichts gewünschter Luftpolsterfolie) habe ich leider nicht gefunden. Zweck wird erfüllt, Qualität angesichts der 100,-- EUR verbesserungswürdig! Bin gespannt ob die Zelte auch für einen zweiten und dritten Winter geeignet sind.Update vom Februar 2018:Das Zelt hat den Winter recht gut überstanden, meinen Zitruspflanzen geht es sehr gut (siehe Bild)! Kein Blattverlust, das ohne Düngung und über den Winter nur 2-3 mal gegossen. Ich habe die Zitruspflanzen jetzt leicht eingeschnitten und gedüngt, da (aufgrund derzeitiger warmer, sonniger Temperaturen) bereits ein erster Austrieb zu sehen ist. Die Kombination aus zeitweiser "Bodenheizung" bei Kübel-Temperaturen unter 5°C und diesem Zelt scheinen Ideal zu sein.

Zu meiner Erleichterung war das gelieferte Paket schon mal recht leicht und somit sehr gut zu tragen. Beim Auspacken fiel mir die praktische Aufbewahrungshülle positiv auf. Nun lagen der Zeltboden, die Außenhülle und die Stangen vor mir und im ersten Moment war ich etwas überfordert da die Anleitung lediglich aus zwei kleinen Bildchen besteht und mir eine Schritt-für-Schritt-Erklärung lieber gewesen wäre. Nach kurzer Zeit merkte ich aber dass der Aufbau wirklich leicht und fast schon selbsterklärend ist und für jeden, der schon mal Zelte oder Pavillons aufgebaut hat kein Problem sein dürfte. Die Qualität empfinde ist als gut, alle Stangen, Hülle und Boden passten genau aufeinander, es musste nichts gezogen, gebogen oder gedreht werden. Die Größe empfinde ich als ideal, es stehen vier mittelgroße Pflanzen drin und es hätten noch 1-2 weitere in dieser Größe gepasst oder noch mehrere kleinere. Bei der Stabilität ist eventuell noch Luft nach oben aber für den Einsatz auf einer kleinen Dachterasse absolut ausreichend. Das fertig aufgebaute Zelt kann man problemlos noch hin- und herschieben um den idealen Standort zu finden, das hat mir gut gefallen. Alle Komponenten machen insgesamt einen wertigen Eindruck, ich kann das Zelt für den Einsatz an windgeschützten Stellen absolut empfehlen. Da schwere Töpfe drinstehen werden wir es auch erst mal ohne Festbinden/Verankerung versuchen. Mal sehen was die nächsten Wochen bringen, wenn es noch etwas zu berichten gibt, schreibe ich noch ein Update.

Ich habe mir den Igloo für die Überwinterung einiger nicht frostharter Topf-Pflanzen im Außenbereich gekauft. Aufgestellt habe ich ihn auf der Veranda. Jeweils in den Igloo-Ecken habe ich innen im Igloo eine einfache kleine Betonbodenplatte (Baumarkt) eingelegt um Standsicherheit zu erhalten. Die 4 grünen gebogenen Standrohre habe ich mit jeweils einem 20er Graurohr für Elektroinstallationen (ca. 1 € / Stück) verstärkt (einfach überziehen). Sie haben fast genau die Länge der grünen Standrohre. Da diese Kunststoffrohre biegeelastisch sind, passen sie sich dem Biegeradius der mitgelieferten Rohre an.Übertrieben hoch finde ich den Preis (knapp über 95 €) für das gute Stück. Der Materialwert des Igloos beträgt definitiv nur einen Bruchteil davon.
