Great Collection But Don't Forget.....
Excellent collection for the money, obviously. Don't forget to pick up I'm Breathless and The Immaculate Collection to round things out.

This is all Madonna has to do. It's a great opportunity, so make sure you buy it.

sure, it's not all it could be...
... and I assume that's coming later (and when it does, Warner Bros, you better do a true box set justice, not another cheap job like this. Start with the gayest design company you can find so the box won't be as tacky as this one... fire whatever boring ass chick came up with this cover artwork and dulled out gold design). BUT in the meantime it's a nice little collection for die hard fans, a good way to look back and even re-discover the CDs that were considered disappointments but are actually quite wonderful (see "American Life"). The little cardboard covers are cool enough since we're all sick of that plastic piling up in landfills and it's nice to have them all in one place, just like my Smiths box set. There's nothing new here but get it for the right price (see the Marketplace) and it's a good deal for fans -- or their offspring who need introduction to one of the great pop stars.

Great compilation of the first 11 studio albums
Excellent price for 11 studio albums. The first 3 albums are remastered versions and have a few extra songs. This is a no frills box set. Basically the cardboard sleeve and the CD of each album, no inserts or documentation. Not present are a couple of albums like the Dick Tracy soundtrack and You Can Dance albums. You get Madonna (Remastered), Like a Virgin (Remastered), True Blue (Remastered), Like a Prayer, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, Music, American Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor and Hard Candy. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the treble-focused remastering of the first 3 albums. Unless your into sound engineering, you probably wouldn’t notice or care. Are the 1st three albums clearer, crisper and Louder than the originals, YES; However, they were stripped of their punchy bass and deeper mid-ranges. Most of the songs sound better in the greatest hits album, Celebration. For example, the song Open Your Heart from the True Blue album sounds very hot on this remaster. Meaning it is loud and favors the highs, the bass and deep miss have been stripped away. On the greatest hits album Celebration (which isn’t in this set of studio albums), the same song sounds just as clear and loud, but the richness is returned with the bass and deeper mid-ranges. It reminds me of the Billy Squire 16 Strokes remastered in 1995 greatest hits album, all of the songs were hot and stripped of their punchy bass. It just killed the music. It wasn’t fixed until the 2011 remaster greatest hits album Essential Billy Squire. It makes you wonder who even signs off on these remastered versions.Anyways, if you want an awesome collection of the first 11 albums, this is for you, I just wish the song remasters were as good as the ones on Celebration.

Madonna at Her Best
By collecting all these albums, the ultimate retrospective has been made. And there is no way you could beat this ultimate package; except probably for an ultimate remix package of 5 cds that will cover the best remixes of most of her hits in continuous set of say 70 minutes a cd.For the long-time fan, it is a way to collect and re-collect all the cds into one package. For the new Madonna fans, it will be a way to get to know her at her starting points, and her evolution.Kudos to Madonna for bring all these songs and albums together. I can't wait for the remixes package.
