I used this to mount my 56" LCD TV from a ceiling since the wall behind it was stone fireplace. Before ordering I was rather apprehensive about hanging it from the ceiling, and the material quality this mount may have. After unboxing this I was put slightly more at ease. It is indeed very thick, very strong steel that dominated the real cheap Chinese/ebay wall mounts I've used in the past.The steel tubing hanging from the ceiling has an optional extension pole to give you plenty of reach from tall ceilings, with several hole slots spaced every few inches apart to give you the height adjustment. The steel tubing is hollow giving you a good place to run cords from the TV to ceiling to give it a nice clean tucked in look. It can be a bit of a pain to run any cables with large connectors, or too many cables through it, especially after the TV has been hung. You have to take the bolts out holding the two pieces of tubing together to fit the cables through if the connector is too large to push around, not really a big deal you just have to have someone present to support the TV while you do that. I managed to squeeze two HDMI cables, a power cable, a speaker cable, and an ethernet cable through the center shaft - which was a huge perk for me.The bracket for the back of the TV mount is pretty exceptional and can probably be used as a wall mount by itself. It has tilt adjustment obviously and pretty decent locking bolts. I ended up using flat slotted steel (garage door hangers) that ran off the top and bottom of the backet, the top holds up a large center bar speaker, and the bottom holds up a kinect sensor.The top mount part has a small foot-print, which I would highly debate if I were you trying to use it to mount solely in ceiling/drywall. Not a fault by design as much as just a few holes that close to each other in any drywall would be skeptical of the weight it could carry (depends on the size of your TV). I recommend either hitting a 2x4(6) joist or if you have to cut a small square out of the ceiling to put one between two joists, then suspend this from that.I've had this installed for about 6months now worry free. It's a bit pricey, but I've had a few mounts half the price and the steel was half as thick. A little insurance premium for piece of mind, in my opinion. No real issues or things I'd necessarily change with it, all in all very satisfied.

The CONS: The instructions - well, they lack something to be desired because it tells you to use certain screws or a certain tube (giving you a name) yet fails to label anything so you are left guessing a little - although, it's pretty self-explanatory figuring out which screws or parts go where. The other problem is you are working a little blind in knowing how far your TV will hang from the ceiling because there is nothing to indicate that from the instructions. So, you have to be smart enough to figure that out on your own. It's pretty easy as well, but just no instructions at all in that area are given. The mount goes up easily and the attaching the brackets to the TV are a breeze, but for me, the hardest part was hanging the TV from the ceiling mount. Since the tube doesn't lock, it swings back & forth a little. Make sure you tighten the screw as much as possible for the tube on the ceiling mount, then try to hook both brackets on the back of the TV at the same time. I got my side hooked on, then the mount came down one my side under the weight of the TV while the mount went up on the other side where my husband could not see it. Fortunately, there is a bump at each end of the mount so the TV doesn't slide off, but we were stuck because the TV shifted forward a little (like it's supposed to when both brackets are hung), but that caused my husband & I much trouble in getting his bracket hooked at all. By then, we both felt we were about to drop the TV (thankfully, the bracket was hooked on that little bump). I had to guide my husband blindly to get his side hooked which was no easy task once that TV shifted forward on us because when his bracket would be in the right place, the bottom of my bracket was hitting the mount in the wrong place & vice-versa. Finally, we got it on & it was all good. So, I definitely recommend that you don't allow one side to hang before both brackets are ON along with having the mount as rigid as you can get it.Now, with that said, it's a great mount that didn't actually take that long to get up. It was a great price and works great once in place. Ordered this product to accommodate TV hung on a wall with a pocket door enclosure. I could not attach directly to the wall because it would interfere with door function. I reconfigured the bracket to allow wall mounting of the arm which was not included in the directions but by positioning the bracket high on the wall away from the door enclosure I was able to mount the TV where I wanted it. The bracket is huge! I was surprised by the robust nature of the mounting hardware and the arm itself. I had no doubt this mount could easily handle the largest of wall mountable TVs. One issue I did have was the TV mounting plate tube does not have holes all the way down the tube. I had to drill additional holes to attach the down tube where I needed it to be. This was easily accomplished with a drill and metal bit. Overall, I am highly impressed with its sturdy construction and ease of mounting. I would recommend for many unique mounting issues.

I mounted a 50" plasma to the ceiling with this mount. I used a stud finder to find the joist in the ceiling and drilled 3 pilot holes. The installation was easy, but the instructions are a little vague. The TV is very sturdy in the mount, and I love how adjustable the TV is in the mount. The TV was tilting a little to the side -- I tried to adjust the mount, but I found that grabbing the TV and simply adjusting it myself was the easiest way to make it level.My only major complaint is that the product description lead me to believe that I could mount the TV to the wall using this mount, but you can't -- the mount does allow for vaulted ceilings, but you're not gonna be able to mount it straight to the wall due to the angle of the base.Very high quality product, I'm happy with my purchase, particularly since it cost a third of the price of a retail mount.
