Attractive But Unimpressive Game Mat
I was worried about the quality of this mat due to reviews from other gamers. I purchased this to cover the crack between the two 6ft Cosco tables I purchased for gaming, and so that game boards/pieces wouldn't slide around causing mishaps. I ordered this believing it was a nonslip mat, so figured I would have to return this upon delivery when I realized my mistake. Here is my review:*While the mat isn't as thick or as sturdy as I would have found appropriate for the price, it isn't a material which would easily tear. The material is similar to vinyl sheets you would line kitchen drawers and cabinets with. I would have given this 5 stars all around had it been comprised of an even thicker and heavier vinyl and back lining.*The print quality is vibrant and attractive which really brings game boards to life.*While the mat isn't a non-slip mat, the vinyl top does add some traction so that my board games do not easily slide when manipulated, so I can confidently play with miniatures or standees without being overly careful of displacing them.*A major drawback to this mat is that it DOES curl at the ends, but this can be remedied with some masking tape. I plan on using cardboard and duct tape to weigh down the ends as others have spoken of, and I believe this will be sufficient.Overall, I am pleased by this purchase, but not impressed, as one expects to be with a good product. Time will tell if this is worth the money paid, but I may still also purchase a rubber game mat at a later date.If your budget only allows for close to $40 and you need a mat for covering a large area to play larger games, then don't hesitate to purchase this. It is attractive, and will keep your game pieces from sliding around.

5 Stars (pending some alterations)
This was purchased for playing Star Trek Attack Wing (STAW). What people recommend for games like STAW and Star Wars X-Wing (STXW) is a 3ftx3ft star map which is padded like a yoga mat (slip resistant bottom) to prevent movement of game pieces. When you search for game mats on Amazon (as of 6/20/17) you can find mats similar to this without a slip resistant bottom for around $25-30, and if you want the slip resistant bottom it will cost you $75-80.The slip resistant bottom is a must, but I just didn't want to spend more... so I took a chance. It was scary as hell buying an non-reviewed item which is why I'm reviewing this for you.The reason I picked this mat is because it comes in multiple sizes. I got this one in the 48" square size. The reason is because you get more flexibility of game play with a mat larger that "36 square (some of STAW's "miniatures" like the Borg Cube are huge and take up a ton of space). It came rolled, in a long rectangular box - totally adequate. The nylon like material is similar to what you would see hanging at an outdoor bar (which I believe is the metaphor they use in the items description), with small waffle like stitching for texture (similar to Seersucker weave which I was excited to see because that should prevent tearing). The print quality I am happy with, they are not going to be able to make it pristine because of the texturing, but it is a great trade of both because of the non-rip quality it adds as well as adding an extra non-slip feature to the surface of the canvas. Once you lay it out and put some books on it, it flattens out pretty quick. Now you have to deal with the slipping issue, because like other mats of this style it does not have a nonslip bottom. I went to a lumber supplier and had them cut me a 40# square of Sanded Plywood (1/4" thick soft wood). They will not cut angles at most hardware stores line Lowes or Home Depot, so I took the piece home and cut off the corners to match the size and shape of the felt top of my poker table. The mat was wrapped over the wood, with the excess material stapled and duct taped to the back.I am incredibly happy with the finished product. It looks incredible, it plays incredible. By stapling it to wood I lost the ability to roll it up and transport it easily but I knew that going in. The total cost for all the materials and alterations was under $50. It looks so good, even my buddies who do not play STAW request I leave it on the table when we play poker. It's a great mat!

Good... but lacks in a couple ways.
First of all... the price was really good for what you get but, buying this makes me realize why the more expensive mats are more expensive. My biggest issue with this mat is that the resolution doesn't fit 28mm scaled games. I wanted this primarily for Fallout Wasteland Warfare but when the minis hit the table, it's apparent that the image of the terrain on the mat is way over sized for these figures. What should be cracks in the road actually look like crevices figures should be falling into. It would seem a simple fix to just do some photo editing or scale voodoo to make this right and start printing higher resolution images. But, I will say that if you have a lot of terrain items (buildings, scenery, etc) the resolution of the mat does become less apparent. The other issue is the glare... others have said it and it's true. Though this isn't a killer issue, it's kind of bothersome at times.Other than that, it's a huge mat that covers most tables with a background that better immerses you in your gaming environment. Fix the resolution and maybe give it a matt coating and this would be 5 stars all day.

Very Good Battle Map
Good battle map, and looked even better than I expected.

Great enhancement to miniature games.
Not as flexible as I thought it would be, you can't really put stuff underneath to create hills and have the mat naturally flow down to make it easier for figures it sit on. But for the price, this has enhanced many of my BattleTech games.
