I found the easiest way was to cup the top & the bottom parts with my palms & then twist the bottom half anti clockwise. Hope that helps!

Yes it is a bit tricky but you might need to just keep trying! Try a rubber jar opener or rubber type cloth. It dies open eventually - don’t try too hard! Sorry I can’t be of more help. I tried and tried and eventually it opened.

Q: Can you set it up for one colour only (not flashing)?

Yes. Yes you can. It also glides beautifully between the colours. An essential purchase for illuminating water. Don’t drop it though, the batteries fall out and a toddler screams at you as if you’ve killed their sibling as you try to quickly open and place the batteries back to their slots. The screams haunt me. They always will. Always.
